Job summary

The Straz Center for the Performing Arts is seeking a Utility Kitchen Worker in Tampa, FL to maintain cleanliness through dishwashing equipment use, sink maintenance, silverware polishing, garbage removal, and general equipment and area cleaning. The role also assists in general food preparation for events.

Located in downtown Tampa, the center offers flexible hours, event-based schedules including evenings and weekends, and a team-based work environment.

Qualifications

• Ability to work evenings and weekends.
• Fast-paced environment experience would be helpful.
• One year dishwashing/commercial kitchen experience preferred.
• Experience in a comparable facility or related field preferred.
• High School diploma or equivalent.

The Utility Kitchen Worker is responsible for maintaining cleanliness standards through the operation of dishwashing equipment and sinks, polishing silverware, removing garbage, and cleaning of equipment and work areas, including the sweeping and mopping of floors. This position will also assist in general food preparation for events.

Food service at the Straz includes fine dining, indoor & outdoor casual dining, catering, and meal services.

Located in downtown Tampa, the Straz offers flexible hours, event-based schedules including evenings and weekends, and a team-based work environment. Straz benefits for part-time staff include employee discounts and a 403(b) plan.

Essential Functions:

• Dishwashing
• Kitchen cleaning and sanitation
• Food handling and storage
• Recognizes quality standards in fresh vegetables, fish, dairy, and meats.
• Attentive, friendly, helpful, and courteous to all guests, managers, and fellow employees

Physical Demands:

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to move or be in a stationary position for extended periods of time, reach, and communicate both in person and by telephone. The employee is occasionally required to position self to move up to 25lbs.
