Our Pipeline group is growing and we have immediate openings for full-time, entry-level, and experienced Natural Gas Pipeline Construction Inspectors and Surveyors. We offer exceptional opportunities in our Survey and Construction Inspection areas. What You Will Do: We have roles for entry-level and experienced natural gas pipeline inspectors and locators who want to better themselves and want to be challenged. You will be part of our Construction Services Pipeline Group working around natural gas distribution pipelines and facilities. As a Utility Inspector/Locator, you will be enforcing strict adherence to client requirements as it relates to the safety and construction of natural gas pipelines.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Passing Operator Qualification modules and other training requirements in a timely fashion.
  2. Performing all aspects of the job with an emphasis on safety.
  3. Building and maintaining knowledge of federal, local, and company compliance standards.
  4. Field observation, verification, and documentation of compliance, including:
  • Completing inspection reports daily via electronic documentation on a company-provided iPad, including Reports, Pictures, Schedules, Time, and Expenses.
  • Working with detailed plans and procedures, tracking quantities and materials, and verifying mapping and as-built documentation.
  • Inspecting installation activities such as excavation, installation, and backfill/restoration.

Additional responsibilities:

  • Locating and flagging utilities: gas and electric.
  • Flagging proposed electric and gas routes.
  • Navigating to multiple locations daily.
  • Travel may be required up to 60% of the time.
  • Working hours typically range from 40 to 60 hours per week, 5-6 days per week.

What You Will Bring:

Required:

  • 1-3 years experience performing utility locates, including locating gas and electric utilities.
  • Ability to perform accurate, quality locates.
  • Fluency in Ticket Management Systems.
  • Knowledge of local 811 processes/laws.
  • Excellent technical, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Minimum of a high school diploma.
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
  • Reliable transportation and ability to work at multiple sites.
  • Pre-employment and quarterly random drug tests.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.

Physical requirements include working in all weather conditions, lifting 50-75 lbs., and working in varied environments including uneven terrain, confined spaces, or trenches.

Preferred certifications and experience:

  • Current CWI/CPWI certification.
  • Knowledge of CFR49/192/195, or certifications like AWS CWI, NACE Cathodic Protection Level 1-4, or NACE Coating Inspector Level 1-3.
  • Two-year technical degree related to civil engineering construction or a four-year college degree.
  • Familiarity with construction processes, installation methods, utility mapping, and survey experience.
