Job summary

RECONN Utility Services in New York is seeking production-based field technicians to install natural gas detectors and inspect gas services for leaks and corrosion. The role is daytime and full-time, with overtime and weekend work possible; on-site training will be provided.

Starting pay ranges from $21 per hour for new technicians to $27 per hour for experienced staff, with a move to $22.66 per hour after full qualification.

Qualifications

• Able and willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Available to work overtime, weekends, and on-call shifts.
• Ability to travel locally during the business day; some out-of-area or overnight travel may be expected.
• Able to pass a drug screen (safety-sensitive position).
• Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record required.
• Able to stand and walk for long periods of time on varying types of terrain; lift heavy items up to 75 lbs.
• Proficiency with technology.
• Able to communicate clearly with colleagues, customers, contractors, and homeowners. Customer service experience is a plus.
• Ability to use simple hand tools.
• Ability to read utility maps.
• Must be able to work in all boroughs of NYC without advanced notice as required by the customer.

Responsibilities

• Install Natural Gas Detectors and inspect gas services for leaks and corrosion.
• Visual inspection and ensure all required paperwork/documentation is completed.
• Identify abnormal operating conditions and notify appropriate company personnel.
• Fill out all forms associated with the inspection visit (electronic or paper).
• Daytime, full-time positions with possible overtime; may require weekend work.
• Instructor-led training will be provided.

Responsible for the installation of Natural Gas Detectors and inspecting gas services for leaks and corrosion. This includes visual inspection and ensuring all required paperwork / documentation is completed. While on-site, technicians will also be responsible for identifying any abnormal operating conditions, notifying appropriate company personnel, and accurately filling out all forms associated with the inspection visit (form may be electronic or paper).

These are daytime, full-time positions and overtime may be required. Instructor led training will be provided. This position may require you to work weekends.
