Job Title: Utility Forester / Contract Arborist / Work Planner
This position provides planning, scheduling, reporting, and project management for utility right-of-way vegetation management programs throughout our operating region in the continental United States.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities
- Inspect right-of-ways to assess vegetation conditions and determine required maintenance activities.
- Assist with developing bid package maps and work manifests.
- Obtain permission from property owners to trim or remove trees and apply herbicides. Arrange access, advise of interruptions, and explain work to be performed.
- Discuss responsibility for property damage, minor repairs, and refer controversial cases to the General Foreperson/Project Coordinator.
- Research easement and land rights for widths, rights, and restrictions.
- Meet with landowners to explain vegetation management work.
- Mark works in the field as required.
- Respond to public concerns and questions about the work.
- Assist in developing public relations materials.
- Respond to contractor questions concerning work specifications and requirements.
- Document work activity using GIS and custom work planning software.
- Inspect contractor work for compliance with specifications.
- Assist in managing contractors during storm restoration operations.
- Drive a company vehicle safely to work locations.
- Support and assist on special projects as assigned by the utility.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Working knowledge of IVM techniques and equipment used for vegetation management.
- Excellent personal computing skills; GIS knowledge preferred.
Education & Experience
- 2-4 year degree in Forestry, Natural Resource Sciences/Management, Horticulture, or related field.
- ISA Certified Arborist or ability to obtain within 1 year; ISA Utility Specialist preferred.
- At least 2 years of applicable work experience preferred but not required.
Pre-Screen
- Employees may be required to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, background, and MVR check.
License & Certifications
- Driver's License required.
Physical Requirements
- Rare (less than 10%): stooping, kneeling, squatting, body-twisting, crawling, climbing poles, color vision, lifting, pushing, pulling, climbing ladders, stairs, lifting 10-50 lbs.
- Occasional (up to 33%): sitting, dexterity, climbing on/off trucks, reaching, carrying, balancing, lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Frequent (up to 66%): standing, walking, hearing, seeing distant, sense of touch, depth perception.
- Continuous (up to 100%): seeing, speaking clearly.

Employees must have sufficient eyesight, endurance, and physical ability to perform job duties in various weather and terrain conditions, and be able to communicate effectively and handle conflict professionally. Work involves exposure to noise, irritants, insects, and animals, and working around hazardous equipment and unlevel terrain.
