Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company’s Davey Resource Group seeks a UVM Technician to join our Dallas-area team. You will inspect utility ROWs, identify tree clearance needs, and support line-clearance crews to ensure compliance with standards.

You’ll document work with handheld devices, notify property owners of planned work, and assist in coordinating access for crews. Enthusiasm for weathering irregular hours, nights, weekends and storms is essential.

Qualifications

• Professional or Collegiate Tree Work experience.
• ISA Certified Arborist or ability to obtain within 6–12 months.
• Commercial Pesticide Applicator’s License.
• Current Driver’s License with good driving record.
• Proficient with Word, Excel, Access, Outlook and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Inspect distribution utility ROWs for compliance with standards.
• Identify tree and brush control needs and support crews.
• Document work using handheld devices.
• Notify property owners of pending work.
• Audit contractor work and coordinate access for line-clearance crews.
• Discuss and negotiate crew access issues.
• Perform special projects; work nights, weekends, holidays and storms as needed.

Position Overview

We are currently looking to add a dynamic UVM Technician to our passionate team of environmental professionals.

Job Duties

The Utility Vegetation Management (UVM) Technician will inspect distribution utility right-of-ways and access to Right-of-Way (ROW) areas, for compliance with state clearance standards. Identify needed tree and brush control work and provide info to line-clearance crews. Document work using hand-held computer. Notify property owners of pending work on their property. Audit work completed by contractors. Discuss and negotiate line-clearance crew access issues. Special projects as assigned. Must be willing to work nights, weekends, holidays and storms as needed.

Qualifications

Education and Qualifications:

An individual must be able to perform each essential job duty consistently and satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

• Professional or Collegiate Practical Tree Work Experience (including Collegiate Climbing Classes, Forestry Club Operations, Production Climber, Groundsman, or Lift Operator, etc).
• Proficiency with local Tree Identification and Tree Physiology. ISA Certified Arborist or ability to obtain in 6-12 months. Commercial Pesticide Applicator’s License.
• Current Driver’s License and Driving Record in good standing.
• Proficient working knowledge of computers. Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint.
