Job summary

Cardinal Civil Contracting, LLC is seeking a field crew supervisor to lead a 6–7 person team on water, sewer and storm installations. You will study plans and specs to determine the best methods for pipe placement and ensure accurate grade and alignment using laser and level tools.

The role requires operating heavy machinery, enforcing OSHA safety rules, and performing quality checks to meet project specs. A valid driver's license is essential, and bilingual abilities are a plus.

Qualifications

• 2 to 5+ years of experience installing water, sewer and storm systems.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 preferred, Confined Space and trench safety training required.
• Physically capable of heavy lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, stooping, and working in all weather.
• Proficient reading construction drawings and leveling instruments.
• Valid driver’s license with clean DMV; bilingual a plus.

Job description

• Crew Management: Supervises a team of 6 to 7 workers, assigning daily tasks, tracking attendance, and handling worker training or career growth.
• Project Execution: Studies blueprints, specifications, and project layouts to determine the best means and methods for pipe installation.
• Grade & Alignment: Uses laser instruments, grade rods, transit levels, and other layout tools to ensure pipes are set accurately and to the correct slope.
• Equipment Operation: Utilizes heavy machinery (e.g., excavators) to dig trenches, lower pipe, and backfill the area after installation.
• Quality Assurance: Inspects completed work to ensure it passes all inspections and meets industry standards and engineering specifications. Complete all required acceptance testing.
• Site Safety: Enforces OSHA regulations, conducts daily safety briefings, and ensures confined space entry and excavation safety protocols are followed.

Qualifications

• Experience: 2 to 5+ years of experience installing water, sewer and storm in residential, commercial, public projects.
• Certifications: OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 a plus but not required. Confined Space and trench safety training is required.
• Physical Demands: Must be physically capable of heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs), bending, stooping, working in trenches, and operating in all weather extremes.
• Technical Skills: Strong proficiency with reading construction drawings and the ability to confidently operate heavy mobile equipment. Utilize site levels and pipe lasers. Calculate grade and slope.
• Valid Drivers license with clean DMV or crew member with a license.
• Bi-Lingual a plus but not required.
