Eaton is seeking a Utility Field Application Engineer to drive acceptability of its electrical products in the market. This home-based role requires residency within 50 miles of specified locations and involves leading design, development, and validation of Eaton solutions, while mentoring sales engineers and coordinating with customers and project teams.

The candidate will call on electrical engineers, support major projects, conduct seminars, and assist with quotations and factory visits.

Eaton’s ES AMER NAS division is currently seeking a Utility Field Application Engineer. This is a home-based position and candidates for this role must reside within 50 miles of one of the following locations to be considered for this position: Franklin, MA; Syracuse, NY; Clifton Park, NY; Rochester, NY or Windsor, CT.

What you’ll do:

Position Overview: The primary function of the Utility Field Application Engineer is to achieve acceptability of Eaton’s electrical products in the marketplace, while providing technical leadership and mentoring for sales engineers, outside rep agencies and to both internal and external customers. This position will be responsible for leading the design, development and validation of Eaton products and service applications. This position will be familiar with competitive product offerings and be able to position Eaton products to best compete against competitive products.

In this function you will:

• Call on electrical engineers at related utility customers and consulting firms across the assigned sales territory to assist with technical design and position Eaton related products in a preferred position

Required (Basic) Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
• Minimum seven (7) years of electrical industry sales and/or electrical engineering experience
• Possess a valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
• Possess a Professional Engineer (PE) license
• Knowledgeable of Eaton electrical products, services and competitors

• Proficient in some or all the following: low and medium voltage control and switchgear, prefabricated electrical buildings, low and medium voltage circuit breakers, switchboards related products and applications, power monitoring products and application, power control products and applications
• Demonstrated ability to interface with electrical consultant principals and lead electrical engineers, as well as experience calling on utility generating plants
• Experience with utility scale solar projects and experience with hydro‑electric applications
• Possess knowledge of products, markets channels and associated applications
• Ability to travel up to 50%

The compensation range for this full‑time position includes base pay and target sales performance incentive. This position has a target total compensation range of $164,738 - $241,615.

Base salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
