Qualifications

  • High-school diploma with 3+ years electric utility or telecom experience or a Bachelor's in engineering with 1+ year.
  • Maintain professional certificates and licenses relevant to projects.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and data entry.
  • Strong written and verbal communication with customers and teams.
  • Perform arithmetic computations and follow detailed instructions.
  • Valid driver's license and clean MVR; pass Davey Driver's Safety Course.
  • Preferred: CAD/Outside Plant design software, PLA, and other work tools.
  • Preferred: Engineering degree; 5+ years in industry.

  • Close out jobs in the work request software after tasks finish.
  • Maintain safety and professionalism across project activities.
  • Care for assigned vehicle/equipment with regular maintenance.
  • Respond safely in emergencies and report to supervisor.
  • Attend training events; travel up to 25% for on-site duties.

Position Overview

The Construction Coordinator oversees electric and/or communication construction projects, ensuring they are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to high-quality standards. This role involves coordinating between electric pole owners, subcontractors, and engineering stakeholders, while tracking project progress and managing financial aspects. Key tasks include reviewing designs, conducting post-construction inspections, managing required permits, updating project tracking, generating material reservations, and closing out projects in the work request software. This role ensures smooth project execution and promotes safety and professionalism throughout the process. This position is an individual contributor role, working in an office, remote, and/or field settings.

Job Duties
  • Facilitate communication and coordination between engineering stakeholders, subcontractors, and the electrical pole owner.
  • Resolve any discrepancies or issues related to work duties, assignments, or tasks.
  • Track the status of ongoing work and oversee the financial aspects of the electric and/or communication construction projects, ensuring milestones are achieved.
  • Review construction designs for accuracy and create construction estimates using a predefined template that calculates final project costs.
  • Plan and execute daily tasks, ensuring quality standards are met while adhering to time and budget constraints.
  • Distribute bid requests to the approved contractor list.
  • Prepare, organize, analyze, and report post-construction inspection results.
  • Monitor the progress of pending estimates, ensuring they are completed and approved within the allocated time frames.
  • Provide updates and reports on project activities and status directly to the key stakeholders.
  • Generate material reservations once the job has been paid by the applicant.
  • Identify the need for necessary permits and work closely with state or municipal authorities to procure them as needed.
  • Complete the job closure process in the work request software after all tasks are finalized.
  • Ensure a consistent focus on safety and professionalism across all aspects of the project, following all safety protocols.
  • Ensure the proper care and maintenance of any vehicle and equipment assigned including regular inspections, maintenance checks, and prompt reporting of any issues to the appropriate supervisor or maintenance personnel.
  • React safely and appropriately in emergency situations.
  • Report and respond timely and accurately to the supervisor.
  • Participate in employee and professional training events as assigned.
  • Travel 25% for on-site job duty training, projects, or meetings.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, and work rules.
Qualifications
  • Required: High-school diploma with a minimum of 3 years electric utility or telecommunications industry experience or a Bachelor's degree in engineering (or related technical field) with 1 year of industry experience.
  • Required: Obtain and maintain professional certificates and licenses commensurate with project requirements.
  • Required: Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, Google Workspace, and data entry.
  • Required: Strong communication skills including written and verbal. Read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos. Draft intelligible, professional, and accurate correspondence. Effectively and clearly communicate and present information in one-on-one and group situations to customers, clients, and other employees.
  • Required: Perform moderately complex arithmetic computations.
  • Required: Apply understanding to carry out detailed instructions. Identify, address, and resolve problems involving multiple variables and varied situations.
  • Required: Valid driver's license along with a clean Motor Vehicle Report. Must pass the Davey Driver's Safety Course.
  • Preferred: Demonstrate proficiency in CAD/Outside Plant Engineering design software, PLA software, and other work management software.
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction, or related technical field from an accredited college or university.
  • Preferred: 5 years prior electric utility or telecommunications industry experience.
  • Preferred: Electric hazard identification, electric equipment identification, or communication equipment identification capability.
  • Preferred: OSHA 1910.269 qualified training is preferred but will be provided as required by the project (including, but not limited to, use and testing of rubber insulating gloves, electric meter change out, use of insulated measuring sticks, open enclosure methodology, and use of phasing tools).
