Job summary

Athens Services is seeking a Utility Driver to safely operate a heavy‑duty truck and cover multiple truck types, including belly dumps and semi‑tractors with trailers. You will perform pre/post-trip inspections, monitor gauges, and cooperate in safety meetings to improve fleet efficiency.

The role requires bilingual English/Spanish communication, forklift certification, and the ability to work outdoors in varied conditions. Competitive benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• Bilingual English / Spanish preferred for communication with diverse customers.
• Forklift certification or experience operating material-handling equipment is preferred.
• Experience in waste/ environmental services or transportation is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a heavy‑duty truck including belly dumps, dump trucks, roll offs and semi tractors with trailers.
• Perform pre- and post‑trip inspections and report any unsafe conditions.
• Proactively cooperate in safety meetings, trainings, and fleet improvements.
• Assist with attaching/removing pup trailers and various dump trailers as required.
• Monitor truck gauges and ensure loads are secured with tarps when needed.

Job Description

Maintains a safe and clean working vehicle Performs pre- and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicle Understands and practices operating as prescribed in Athens Services Safety Rules Immediately reports any unsafe situations or service calls before attempting service Participates and cooperates in all scheduled training, briefings, and safety meetings Works closely with Supervisors to improve efficiencies & identify problem or unsafe acts Notifies Supervisor of any incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage Performs other duties as assigned Attaches and removes pup trailers, belly dump & side dump trailers, transfer trailers and tilt/transport trailers to truck as needed Monitor various gauges during operation of vehicle Unrolls truck tarp to cover loads when required

Preferred Qualifications

Bilingual English / Spanish Work experience in the waste, environmental services, energy, or transportation industry Forklift certified Physical/Environmental Demands: Physical: Standing, walking, seeing, hearing, & smelling continuously. Problem solving, oral/written communication, analytical ability, concentration, & interpersonal abilities continuously. Eye/hand coordination, handling, & wrist motion continuously. Bending, reaching, stretching, frequently, and lifting <= 50 Lbs. frequently. Environmental: Exposure to dust, smoke, fumes, odors, grease, oil, chemicals, wet/hot conditions, & noise continuously. Works outside only.

Salary

Salary: $26.93 per hour
