Job summary

New Pioneer Food Co-op in North Liberty, IA is looking for a dedicated kitchen assistant to support the bakery and pantry teams. You will wash dishes, sanitize equipment, and help maintain organized workspaces according to health department standards.

This role involves standing for long periods, lifting up to 50 lbs, and working various shifts including weekends and holidays. Prior kitchen or food prep experience is preferred, and you will join a community-owned grocery with a strong commitment

Qualifications

• Kitchen or food preparation experience.

• Dexterity with hazardous equipment and sanitation procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform regularly scheduled dishwashing shifts.
• Return equipment and utensils to storage locations.
• Sanitize, organize, and maintain kitchen and bakery dish areas to health standards.
• Remove trash and recyclables.
• Ensure equipment is clean and in working order and report needs to supervisor.
• Assist prepared foods team members as assigned.
• Attend store and staff meetings.
• Start each shift prepared and dressed appropriately.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by lead or supervisor.

Help our kitchen run efficiently by washing bakeware, equipment, and utensils and keeping spaces organized, and filled with sanitized equipment.

What You’ll Do

• Perform regularly scheduled dishwashing shifts.
• Return equipment & utensils back to storage locations for use
• Sanitize, organize, and maintain kitchen & bakery dish area, walk-ins and storage areas to Co-op and health department standards.
• Remove all trash and recyclable items to designated areas.
• Ensure equipment is in clean and working order and advise supervisor of repairs and replacement needs.
• Assist prepared foods team members as assigned
• Attend designated food service, store, and staff meetings
• Start each shift at your workstation, dressed appropriately and ready to begin
• Perform other tasks as assigned by the lead or supervisor

Additional Information

Candidates must have the ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. throughout shift, stand for long periods, and reach, pull, push, turn, stoop, and bend frequently during shift.

Position involves working a variety of shifts, including weekends and holidays as needed.
