Job summary

Harmony Senior Services is seeking a kitchen assistant to prepare food items, portion salads and desserts, and assist with cleaning and dishwashing at our Hershey, PA location. You will support dining room service and stock pantry areas while upholding safety and sanitation standards.

Ideal candidates are team-oriented, able to follow simple instructions, and capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. A flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays is required.

Qualifications

• Must be able to work well with others as part of a team.
• Must be able to follow simple instructions and apply them to position.
• Basic knowledge of kitchen operations and equipment.
• Able to stand, kneel, and walk for extended periods.
• Must tolerate temperature extremes, wet/humid conditions, and noise.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food items as requested.
• Portion and plate salads and desserts.
• Assist with cleaning of kitchen, including floors and equipment.
• Set up and run dishwashing operation, keeping the dishwasher clean and debris-free.
• Assist with dining room service as needed (e.g., pouring beverages).
• Stock food on shelves and in refrigerator.
• Report problems to supervisor and attend staff meetings.

Job Description

• Prepare food items as requested


• Portion and plate salads and desserts


• Assist with cleaning of kitchen, (including floors) and kitchen equipment


• Set up and run dishwashing operation, keeping the dishwasher clean and free of debris.


• Clean pots and pans as needed


• Check water temperatures and maintain sanitation equipment


• Take out all garbage


• Assist with dining room service as needed, e.g. pouring beverages


• Replace paper towels and clean hand sink


• Stock food on shelves and in refrigerator


• Report problems in the kitchen or dining room to supervisor


• Attend all required in-service and staff meetings


• Provide superior customer service to residents and guests

Requirements

• Good organizational skills and have the ability to work well with others as part of a team


• Must be able to work under close supervision


• Possess basic knowledge of kitchen operation and use of kitchen equipment


• Must be able to understand and retain simple instructions and apply them to position


• Must be able to stand, kneel, and walk for extended periods of time


• Must be able to tolerate temperature extremes, wet/humid conditions, and noise


• Must be able to lift 50 lbs, and carry heavy objects for up to 20 feet


• Must wear slip resistant footwear


• Must be available to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and holidays
