Job summary

Qualus is seeking an Associate Utility Design Administrator in our Program Management department to perform design work for electric and/or gas new construction, capital maintenance or system improvements. You will translate codes into practical designs, prepare preliminary estimates, and act as the main contact for customers from inception to completion.

The role requires an eye for detail, ability to work in Winnemucca, NV full-time, and collaboration with engineers, contractors and utilities

Qualifications

• High school diploma and 1 year of AutoCAD drafting experience.
• Less than three years professional experience.
• Familiar with conventional drafting symbols, computer graphics and automated drawing methods.
• Works independently under the direction of an Engineer and plans own work within allotted budget and schedules.
• Provides technical support for CADD design systems and software.
• Strong written and verbal communications skills.
• Must be able to work in Winnemucca, NV office full time.

Responsibilities

• Develops designs for both new, and expanded electric and/or gas utility service.
• Designs systems based on rough sketches.
• Translates code regulations or industry standards (IEEE, IEC, ANSI, etc.).
• Creates and delivers preliminary estimates.
• Identifies needs and expectations of the customer for electric and/or gas utility requirements of project specific development.
• Serves as the central point of contact for internal and external customers from inception to completion.
• Prepares and presents the financial agreement to the customer.
• Conducts pre-construction meetings with Electric and Gas Inspectors, General Foreman and Area Service Managers as necessary.
• Become familiar with utility specific standards and associated industry standards or codes and maintains a working knowledge of all company standards, tariffs and regulatory requirements to provide the most cost-effective designs.
• May participate in the after hour rotational on call supervisor program and assists in restoration activities during storms or other emergencies.
