Sehlhorst Equipment Services is seeking a Utility Crew Equipment Operator to join our growing team in Ohio. This role focuses on operating heavy machinery, performing routine maintenance, and ensuring safe, efficient project execution on construction sites.

You will install trench boxes, position pipe, inspect equipment daily, and support underground infrastructure projects. We value self-motivation, teamwork, and adherence to OSHA and industry standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications preferred.
• Experience operating excavators and utilities equipment.
• Familiar with OSHA/EPA regulations for underground construction.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy machinery including excavators and loaders for construction tasks.
• Install trench boxes and position pipe in trenches safely and efficiently.
• Conduct daily equipment inspections to ensure performance and safety.
• Assist in building and maintaining underground infrastructure, pipelines, and utilities.
• Follow safety protocols to ensure compliance with regulations and promote a safe work environment.

Job Summary

The Utility Crew Equipment Operator plays a crucial role in the efficient operation of various machinery and equipment used in construction and maintenance projects. This position requires a skilled individual who can operate heavy machinery, perform maintenance tasks, and ensure that all operations are conducted safely and effectively.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate heavy machinery including excavators, loaders, for various construction tasks.
• Install trench boxes, lower pipe into trenches, move material safely, efficiently, and keep up with production goals
• Conduct daily inspections of equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
• Assist in building and maintaining underground infrastructure, pipelines, and other utilities
• Follow safety protocols and guidelines while operating heavy equipment, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and promoting a safe working environment

Qualifications

• Proficient in operating and excavating with the use of excavators
• Strong mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot equipment issues effectively
• Excellent teamwork skills with a focus on communication and collaboration
• Willing to help out with pipe laying operations as necessary
• High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications or vocational training in utility systems operations is preferred
• Proven experience working as a Utilities Operator or in a similar role, preferably in a commercial or industrial setting
• Familiarity with regulatory standards and compliance requirements related to underground construction, such as OSHA, EPA, or other relevant agencies.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record

Education/Experience Requirements

• Excavation (digging trenches, setting structures): 1 year (Required)
• Excavator operation: 3 years (Required)
