Job summary

STV is seeking a dedicated Utility Coordinator for the Charlotte, NC area to oversee utility coordination and relocations for NCDOT and municipal projects. You will manage resources to identify conflicts and supervise relocations prior to construction.

In this role you will interpret highway plans, coordinate with NCDOT and utility owners, prepare meetings, and ensure compliance with standards. Travel and mentorship of junior staff are possible, with a focus on work-life balance.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of related experience.
• Valid state driver's license with a clean driving record.
• 1–3 years of MicroStation v8i and/or OpenRoads Designer experience.
• Knowledge of ProjectWise software preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop utility relocations strategies and coordinate services to accomplish removal, relocation, and modification of utility facilities.
• Interpret highway construction plans, drainage summaries, specifications, etc. to identify utility impacts.
• Must have working knowledge of policies, regulations, and engineering standards set forth by FHWA, NCDOT, and related NC statutes.
• Coordinate with NCDOT, utility owners, and contractors in meetings; prepare agendas and minutes.
• Prepare and QA/QC utility relocation plans and submittals; work with design disciplines for practical resolutions.
• Perform QA/QC of relocation packages for submittal to NCDOT; prepare Environmental Permit drawings and narratives.
• Occasional overnight travel may be required.

Job description

STV has immediate needs for Utility Coordinator in the Charlotte, NC area to oversee utility coordination and relocations for NCDOT and Municipal projects. The work comprises of managing various resources to determine utility conflicts and subsequent utility relocations and oversee the relocation of utilities prior to construction contract commencement.

This role offers unlimited opportunities to maintain existing client relationships, broaden STV's service offerings geographically, be involved in major transportation projects, mentor junior staff, all while promoting the culture of a healthy work-life balance.

Job Responsibilities

• Develop utility relocations strategies and provide coordination/relocation services to accomplish removal, relocation, and modification of utility facilities (water, sewer, gas, electric, telecommunication, etc.)
• Must be able to interpret highway construction plans, drainage summaries, specifications, etc. to identify utility impacts
• Must have working knowledge of all policies, regulations, and engineering standards set forth by the Federal Highway Administration, North Carolina Department of Transportation, Division of Highways, and all application NC General Statutes related to utility relocation
• Knowledge of innovative construction methods while adhering to all environmental regulations and roadway design standards
• Must have strong organizational skills and ability to coordinate simultaneous tasks/projects
• Schedule and conduct utility meetings with NCDOT, utility owners, and contractors. Prepare meeting agendas and minutes
• Proficiently and professionally communicate technical information
• Work closely with other design disciplines to determine most practical utility conflict resolutions
• Must be familiar with the Subsurface Utility Engineering process and interpreting data
• Determine cost responsibility (prior rights) and assist utility owners with preparation of utility agreements, relocation plans, and relocation schedules
• Perform QA/QC of utility relocation packages for submittal to NCDOT
• Prepare and QA/QC Utility by Others (UBO) plans in MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer.
• Prepare Environmental Permit drawings and narratives
• Attend field meetings and site investigations as required
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office software or equivalent
• Experience with NCDOT Utilities Accommodation Manual
• Occasional overnight travel may be required

Specific Requirements

• Applicant must possess a minimum of 3 years of related experience.
• Candidates must hold a valid state driver's license and clean driving record.
• 1-3 years of experience in MicroStation v8i and/or OpenRoads Designer software
• Knowledge of ProjectWise software is preferred

Compensation Range

$61,899.00 - $70,339.00
