Overview:

Our client is a private equity firm seeking a seasoned Operating Advisor to support their acquisition and growth strategy within the regulated utility sector.

The ideal candidate will bring deep domain expertise, a well-established network, and strategic insight to help evaluate and scale platform investments across the utility transmission and distribution (T&D) value chain.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise on M&A strategy and deal evaluation for targets in the EPC, engineering, and electrical contracting sectors serving regulated utilities.
  • Provide strategic insight on market positioning, key risks, and operational upside within target businesses.
  • Leverage existing relationships to support diligence, introduce acquisition targets, and validate key growth assumptions.
  • Serve as a trusted thought partner to the investment team and portfolio company leadership.
  • Support talent assessment and post-close integration planning.
  • Identify and mitigate regulatory, commercial, and execution risks across Southeast U.S. utility markets.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • 20+ years of experience in utility T&D with senior leadership roles across engineering, contracting, or utility organizations.
  • Deep familiarity with utility procurement, vendor qualification, and compliance frameworks in the regulated space.
  • A strong network of executive and operational contacts across utilities, suppliers, and key EPC players across any US region.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess growth-stage and lower middle-market businesses in a buy-side or board advisory capacity.
  • Prior experience advising or working with private equity a strong plus.

This advisory role offers flexible involvement tailored to deal flow and portfolio needs. The compensation structure will be aligned with advisory impact, including potential for board seats, equity participation, or retainer-based engagement.
