Utility Construction Pipe Layer (19KS.24)

Job Overview: American States Utility Services, Inc., contracts with the federal government to provide water and wastewater services on military installations across the U.S. We serve nearly 350,000 military and civilian personnel and families in various states. Veterans, Reservists, National Guard Members, and Military Spouses are encouraged to apply.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Follow safety rules and regulations.
  • Perform physical construction tasks such as digging, backfilling, and earth leveling.
  • Use mechanized tools and hand tools to cut, bevel, and install pipes.
  • Set grades and alignments using lasers, transit, and grade rods.
  • Connect various pipe types and sizes, including PVC and ductile iron fittings.
  • Install sewer manholes, including joint installation and securing frames and covers.
  • Perform pipe repairs, replacements, tapping, and drilling.
  • Load and unload materials, and prepare construction sites for safety.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • One year of verifiable experience as a pipe layer.
  • Field experience working in urban areas around existing utilities.
  • Knowledge of hand tools, power tools, and compaction equipment.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Ability to pass OSHA and safety training.
Physical Requirements:
  • Work in extreme weather conditions.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs, push/pull up to 75 lbs.
  • Work in confined spaces, noisy, or chemically exposed areas.
