Job summary

NovaSource Power Services is seeking a Utility BESS Technician II to support Tonopah operations, monitoring and maintaining utility-scale BESS systems, including inverters and switchgear, with a focus on safety and efficiency.

Ideal candidates have at least 1 year of related experience, a high school diploma, and the ability to follow Lockout/Tagout procedures while using CMMS and MS Office tools. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of related experience in a BESS/utility setting.
• High school diploma or equivalent; college/technical degree preferred.
• Knowledge of CMMS, electrical codes, and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Monitor BESS plant via SCADA and inspect system components.
• Test, troubleshoot, repair, and modify AC/DC BESS equipment.
• Assist with commissioning and PM documentation.

Utility BESS Technician II - (Tonopah, AZ)

Salary Range: $32.50 To $37.00 Hourly

Basic Job Functions:

Responsible for assigned aspects of the maintenance and operation of utility scale BESS power plant. Duties include monitoring BESS Plant operation through SCADA, commissioning, testing, inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and modifying AC and DC solar BESS systems, including inverters, PV module arrays, transformers, switchgear, and metering systems.

Experience:

• 1 year of experience in a related position.

Education:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• College or technical degree preferred.
• Equivalent training in military, utility, or power industry a plus.

Physical Requirements:

• Bending, kneeling, twisting, the ability to lift up to 70 pounds, the ability to climb ladders, and wear PPE for extended periods of time. Ability to work in high and low temperatures, sun exposure, and navigate on uneven ground on foot.
• Ability to differentiate between different colors to manage color-coded wiring.
• Good hand-eye coordination.
• Understanding of electrical safety and arc flash standards.
• Ability to follow operating, switching, maintenance, safety and environmental procedures.
• Must have a safety background with experience in Lockout Tag Out and Job Hazard Analysis.
• Knowledge of industrial or power facility operation and maintenance.
• Knowledge of local and national electrical codes.
• Basic understanding of Electrical schematics and prints.
• Understanding of electrical principles.
• With oversight, able to retrieve relay files and documentation.
• Familiar with CMMS systems for maintenance tracking.
• Proven computer skills in a Windows environment (Microsoft Office Products) is required.
• Must demonstrate the ability to communicate in English both verbally and written.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects.
• Self-directed and accountable, able to think critically about processes and issues.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Ability to complete NovaSource Technician Qualification Standards successfully within 90 days of hire.
• Perform to quarterly key performance indicators, such as actual versus expected energy generation, on-time planned maintenance, and support overall plant and equipment efficiency.
• Ensure a safe work environment by strict adherence to company protocols.
• Responsible for personal safety, quality and schedule adherence.
• Learn, understand, and comply with Job Hazard Analysis, Pre-Job Brief and Lock-Out-Tag-Out procedures.
• With supervision be responsible for a variety of PM work including measuring, reading, testing and performing maintenance procedures on all site components.
• Communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
• Ensure CMMS work orders are complete in their entirety.
• Prepare documents necessary for procurement and utilization of materials and vendor services.
• Ensure all documentation and required reports are reviewed, complete, submitted and filed.
• Attend, participate in and pass all assigned training in safety, environmental and other areas as assigned.
• Maintain work area and site housecleaning to 5S standards.
• Inspect and clean PV equipment at assigned location.
• Verify SCADA site configuration.
• Adheer to Company vehicle maintenance standards and safety standards.
• Other duties as assigned.

Reporting Relationships:

• Will report to most senior site manager or supervisor depending on site organizational structure.
• May have tasks assigned by advanced technical staff.
