Description

Hoopaugh Grading Company, LLC ("HGC") is seeking a Backfill Excavator Operator. The role reports to a foreman or superintendent and involves working with a construction team. The description below provides a general overview of the responsibilities and expectations for this position.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Backfill storm, water, and sewer trenches with a roller bucket.
  • Apply HGC's core values in daily tasks.
  • Communicate professionally with supervisors, teammates, contractors, clients, and vendors.
  • Follow directions from a foreman or superintendent.
  • Maintain attendance during scheduled hours and accept overtime as needed.
  • Keep equipment clean.
  • Attend training at HGC Academy.

Other Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist in other roles on the crew as assigned.

Experience & Requirements

  • Knowledge of soil compaction requirements.
  • Familiarity with OSHA Trenching and Shoring requirements.
  • Ability to read and understand grade stakes.
  • At least two years of industry-related experience.
  • Willingness to work Monday through Friday, 7AM-5:30PM, and Saturdays when needed.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to understand site goals and directions.
  • Pass pre-employment drug and background screening.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Must be 18 or older.

Physical Demands

  • Stand, sit, stoop, kneel, walk, bend, crouch, lift, and crawl as needed.
  • Climb on/off equipment safely.
  • Lift and carry building materials and tools.
  • Maintain alertness and awareness on site.
  • Work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Communicate effectively amidst noise, dust, and substances.
  • Use hands, arms, and feet repetitively to lift and carry materials.
  • Lift 40-80 lbs regularly.
