Job summary

Marmon is seeking a Sheetmetal Fabricator (Utility B) for a 2nd shift to manufacture industrial grade stainless steel electrical enclosures. You will perform grinding, finishing, spot welding, and stud welding to meet certification requirements and product specifications in a timely and accurate manner.

Essential duties include achieving a grained finish, applying weld studs, and inspecting products for conformance.

Qualifications

• Reading and writing clearly to read specifications and documentation.
• Able to perform basic arithmetic for measurements and QA checks.
• Strong communication with team members at all levels.
• Self-motivated, able to work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Achieve a grained finish on stainless steel enclosures and components using belt stroke sanders and finishing tools.
• Apply weld studs using capacitor discharge and drawn arc weld processes.
• Affix parts to enclosures using resistance welding processes.
• Start machines and monitor operations for proper running.
• Inspect products for visual conformance and remove defects.
• Interpret drawings, routers, BOMs and instructions to meet quality standards.
• Perform internal finishing via abrasive blasting or grinding.
• Work from samples or written instructions following standard procedures.
• Use hand tools, measuring devices and related equipment.
• Report faulty equipment, materials, or operations to supervision.
• Move materials and equipment safely as needed.
• Support Lean/5S and process improvement initiatives.
• Maintain compliance with Marmon IEI EHS policies.
• Work as a team with leads, supervisors, managers, and Marmon IEI employees.
• Handle additional projects and tasks as assigned.

This is a 2nd shift position. The Sheetmetal Fabricator (Utility B) is responsible for duties related to manufacturing industrial grade stainless steel electrical enclosures using grinding, finishing, spot welding, and stud welding processes and equipment to produce products to meet certification requirements and product specifications in a timely and accurate manner.

Essential Duties:

• Achieving a grained finish on stainless steel enclosures and components using belt stroke sanders, handheld grinding and finishing tools.
• Applying weld studs using capacitor discharge, and drawn arc weld processes.
• Applying parts to enclosures and related products using resistance welding processes and equipment.
• Start machine and observes operation to assure machine/s are running properly.
• Inspect products for visual conformance to specifications and removes defects or defective pieces.
• Interpret and execute drawing, routers, bom’s and verbal and written instructions to achieve quality standards.
• Internal finishing is accomplished via abrasive blasting and/or grinding.
• Work from samples, verbal, and/or written instructions and according to standard procedures.
• Use hand tools, measuring devices, and related equipment.
• Detect and report faulty equipment, defective material, improper operations, and unusual conditions to proper supervision.
• Move materials, skids, and equipment safely using the proper equipment as needed.
• Support and participate in Lean/5S and process improvement initiatives as needed.
• Maintain compliance with all Marmon IEI Environmental, Health and Safety policies.
• Support activities within compliance to ISO Quality System procedures.
• Work as a team with other leads, supervisors, managers, and Marmon IEI employees.
• Responsible for all other projects, and tasks as assigned.

• Self-starter; ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Strong household practices and organizational skills desired.
