Job summary

MDU Resources Group in Bremerton, WA is hiring a Utility Worker (A/B) to support pipeline construction and field operations. You will dig ditches, back fill, load and unload materials, and assist Service or Meter Repair Mechanics; safety, tool use, and basic mechanical knowledge are essential.

A high school diploma or equivalent, basic training, and the ability to qualify for a commercial driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent; mechanical aptitude and experience.
• Fundamental knowledge of pipeline construction.
• 3–6 months training for Utility B; 6–12 months training for Utility A.

Responsibilities

• Place safety as priority in day-to-day work routines for self and others.
• Dig ditches, back fill; move materials and equipment by hand; load/unload trucks.

Description

Responsible for placing safety as #1 priority in day-to-day work routine for self and others. Works under general supervision; digs ditches, back fills; moves materials and equipment by hand; loads and unloads trucks; assists in installing and dismantling equipment; frequently acts as helper to Service Mechanics or Meter Repair Mechanics; must understand purpose of and have ability to use standard tools such as wrenches, stock and dies, etc.; must be able to qualify for and acquire commercial driver’s license; may from time to time be required to perform various routine operating duties.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Utility B ($34.54 per hour)

• Should have high school education or its equivalent, mechanical aptitude and experience.
• Should have fundamental knowledge of pipeline construction.
• Should have minimum of three (3) months training.

Utility A ($40.52 per hour)

• Should have high school education or its equivalent, mechanical aptitude and experience.
• Should have fundamental knowledge of pipeline construction.
• Should have a minimum of six (6) to twelve (12)months training.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

• Must take all measures necessary to protect networks, devices, programs and data from cyber-attack, damage or unauthorized access.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States, no sponsorships considered.
• Subject to pre-employment drug testing and background checks.
• Must be able to perform heavy work such as running a compactor and jackhammer.
• Must reside within a twenty (20) mile radius of district headquarters ( 6313 Kitsap Way, Bremerton, WA 98312).

Utility B Wage: $34.54 - $34.54 per hour

Utility A Wage: $40.52 - $40.52 per hour
