Job summary

Sagora is seeking a Utility at University Place in Abilene to support dining room operations and kitchen cleanup. The role involves collecting dishes, washing utensils, portions and serving meals, and keeping every area clean and hygienic for residents and guests.

Ideal candidates have at least 6 months in a commercial kitchen, a valid food handler’s permit, and strong English communication skills. This is a PRN, on-site position with a focus on hospitality and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Six (6) months or more of experience in a commercial kitchen operation is preferred.
• Must have food handler’s permit as required by state and/or local authority.
• Excellent communication skills; able to read, write and communicate effectively in English.

Responsibilities

• Collect dishes and kitchen utensils from tables during mealtimes.
• Wash dishes and utensils to highest cleanliness standards.
• Eliminate stains from all utensils.
• Monitor dishwashing machine temperature daily and report issues.
• Notify Culinary Director of any unacceptable temperatures or damages.
• Remove cracked or broken dishes or damaged utensils from service.
• Store dishes, glassware, and utensils properly for next use.
• Follow established meal prep and decoration methods under supervision.
• Set up tables and beverage station; refill salt, pepper, and sugar.
• Portion salads and desserts accurately.
• Serve meals to residents promptly and courteously; deliver to rooms as needed.
• Dispose of trash properly.
• Clean dishwashing machine inside and out after each shift.
• Deep-clean kitchen monthly; sweep and mop floors, walk-ins, freezers daily.

Notify the Culinary Director promptly of any unacceptable temperature readings.Remove from service all cracked or broken dishes or damaged utensils that might be hazardous to residents. Notify the Culinary Director of damage.Store dishes, glassware, and utensils properly for use at the next mealtime.Under the direction of the Culinary Director, follow established methods of meal preparation and decorationSet up tables and beverage station and refill all salt, pepper, and sugar dispensers.As directed, assure all salads and desserts are properly portioned.Serve meals to residents promptly and in a friendly and courteous manner.
