Job description

For our state-of-the art 600+ person Lubbock, TX cheese and whey manufacturing facility, Leprino is seeking a Utilities Supervisor to join our team to continue moving our organization to even larger levels of innovation, technological advancement, process improvement, and production efficiencies. Job Duties
  • Plans and schedules daily staffing needs to improve labor efficiency and ensure maintenance utility system needs are met.
  • Leads and coaches team employees by implementing programs in technical training, safety, quality, communications, performance recognition, and internal employee development to ensure peak employee engagement and efficiency.
  • Builds and fosters strong working relationships, collaboration within their team, and a positive work environment.
  • Schedules and supervises the daily shift activities to minimize production downtime related to utility systems, work orders, and planned maintenance.
  • Prioritizes utility system repair needs while assuring safety and quality.
  • Actively contributes to the development and implementation of the powerhouse operational strategy, process review, and process adjustment.
  • Ensures compliance with wastewater discharge permit limits and all environmental regulatory requirements.
  • Provides employees with the training, equipment, and tools to be able to safely perform their jobs.
  • Lead Hazmat team training activities and always maintain Hazmat readiness.
  • Participates in safety investigations and corrective actions.
  • Monitors team operations and makes recommendations for labor and manufacturing efficiency, cost savings, and equipment uptime improvements.
  • Contributing to the Maintenance Department’s financial performance goals to assure that a quality product is provided at the least possible cost.
You Have At Least (Required Qualifications)
  • At least five (5) years of related experience within utilities/maintenance.
  • One (1) year of previous experience as a supervisor, superintendent, or manager in fast-paced manufacturing leading teams of at least 20.
  • Must be knowledgeable of all plant processes and the equipment involved to trouble‑shoot and tackle utility system problems, primarily in ammonia Refrigeration, HVAC, Direct, Indirect, and Glycol Cooling, Compressed Air, and Fire Suppression
  • A proven understanding of Controls/PLC based systems.
  • Ability to pass a wastewater certification exam and maintain a class C-3a certification with the State of Texas.

  • Experience with projects related to power and utilities systems.
  • Dairy or cheese manufacturing experience.
  • Steam generation and Heat Recovery Systems
