Job summary

  • Role will support of the following operations at the BMS Devens campus:
  • Biologics Large Scale Commercial Manufacturing
  • Biologics Clinical Manufacturing
  • Biologics Cell Bank Manufacturing
  • Biologics Development and Laboratory operations
  • CAR-T (Cell Therapy) Manufacturing
  • Assures completion of all production maintenance activities (e.g., pm’s, pdm’s, work orders, safety inspection, area projects, day-to-day equipment and systems support) for the site by coordinating maintenance services with other operations leaders and planning personnel.
  • Develops new systems, practices and procedures to enhance the performance of the business.
  • Troubleshoots routine and unusual technical / administrative problems.
  • Manages the use and application of all Maintenance Tools.
  • Develops and/or approves SOPs and other technical documentation required for Operations and Maintenance.
  • Works with the Spare Parts group to ensure proper materials and parts are identified and available to sustain Corrective activities.
  • Provides support to other departments in the investigations and resolutions of Maintenance related Quality Events.
  • Support basic risk mitigations options and advanced troubleshooting to identify root cause and appropriate corrective actions for equipment system problems.
  • Provides a clear vision, defining specific and timely objectives and monitoring team activities, providing specific feedback to motivate, build competencies and enhance performance.
  • Maintains a thorough knowledge of short and long range business priorities and objectives through regular communication with site management adjusting Maintenance execution to ensure alignment with strategy and goals.
  • Ensures field personnel are current in their training; maintains current status of the training curricula of direct reports.
  • Develop personnel and manages performance.
  • Develops and implements Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and establish goals to accomplish World-Class Maintenance performance.
  • Active member of all Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) initiatives by participating in and/or providing resources to improve the reliability of our systems, equipment and operations. Identifies areas of opportunities to optimize equipment and systems using Maintenance Programs data, evaluating the impact on policies and regulations, allocating Capital or expenses required, developing action plans and implementing.
  • Ensures Job Plans are current and in order to apply the proper Preventive, Predictive Maintenance procedures.
  • Establishes specific expectations and objectives to ensure compliance with EHS guidelines, cGMP regulations, Company policies and other external agency regulations. Supports the development of related procedures and programs, implement and monitor performance. Identifies areas of opportunity and prepare specific action plans to increase awareness and to maintain compliance.
  • Processes QE’s, CAPA’s and Audit responses according to established due dates.
  • Troubleshoot customer service calls
  • Individual will partner with subject matter experts (SME) & Reliability services to trouble operational issues.
  • Ensures that all appropriate R&M data (e.g., material costs, contract labor costs, effort) is captured on a work order.
  • Responsible for the effective uninterrupted support of Facilities operational activities for BMS Devens.
  • Cross train and / or back up, as appropriate to the advanced level.
  • Maintain up to date and complete system documentation in a central resource location for all repairs or changes to the system.
  • Analyze the operation of various systems, determine the cause of any problems/malfunctions and take corrective action as required.
  • Comply with departmental policy for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Maintain a clean and safe workplace.
  • Any and all other duties and tasks assigned.
  • Conduct immediate clean-up of work area, returning tools to workshop, and unused supplies to store room,
  • Report any equipment problems, impending supply or material shortages to the Operations Manager.
  • Maintains tools and orders supplies as required for installation and repairs.
  • Complies with departmental policy for the safe storage, usage and disposal of hazardous materials.
Knowledge and Skill
  • Knowledge of Maintenance, Operations and Engineering generally attained through studies resulting in a B.S., in engineering, or related discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in Maintenance, Operations of Clean Utilities and/or Biologic Process Manufacturing and Manufacturing equipment support.
  • Ability to provide support during external and internal regulatory audits (FDA, EMEA, etc.)
  • Previous lead experience which demonstrates proficiency in selection, motivating and retaining a superior team, effectively managing personnel issues and planning and administering financial resources.
  • Knowledge of Maximo or other CMMS applications required.

Compensation Overview Devens - MA - US: $114,100 - $138,267 The starting compensation range(s) for this role are listed above for a full-time employee (FTE) basis. Additional incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility) may be available. The starting pay rate takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills, where the job is performed, the employee’s work schedule, job-related knowledge, and experience.
