Job summary

ORC is seeking a Utilities Agent at multiple levels to manage right-of-way acquisition for distribution and transmission projects. You will support the project team, prepare real estate documents, and conduct property research while engaging with landowners and stakeholders throughout the process.

The role includes traveling to properties and remote work in Indiana, with compensation aligned to agent level and experience.

Qualifications

• Active Indiana Notary or the ability to obtain one within 60 days of hire.
• Proficient with MS Office Suite - Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• An iOS or Android smartphone to access ORC's systems.
• Valid driver's license.

Minimum Requirements

This posting covers Utilities Agent levels 1-3, and the pay range shown reflects the full span across all three levels - not the range for any single level.

During the hiring process, every candidate is assessed and evaluated to determine their Agent level. Leveling is based on a number of factors - including years of experience, demonstrated skills, the complexity and scope of work you've owned, overall career depth, and what you demonstrate throughout the interview process.

Your offer, including compensation, will align with the level that best matches your experience:

• Utilities Agent 1 - $64,374 - $76,889 | Minimum of 1 year Right of Way acquisition and/or Indiana real estate/ property management experience
• Utilities Agent 2 - $73,344 - $87,567 | Minimum of 3 years Right of Way acquisition and/or Indiana real estate/ property management experience
• Utilities Agent 3 - $85,220 - $101,702 | Minimum of 5 years of Right of Way acquisition

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, it requires a combination of office-based and field work. Employees will spend prolonged periods sitting and performing computer-based tasks, including typing, data entry, and virtual communication, while also regularly traveling to landowner properties, project sites, and government facilities, some of which may be in rural or remote locations with limited accessibility. Driving is an essential function of the role and may involve extended periods and long-distance travel. Fieldwork may require walking over uneven terrain, standing, or navigating outdoor environments, with routine exposure to varying weather conditions such as heat, cold, rain, and snow. The role also involves frequent interaction with a diverse range of individuals, including landowners, government officials, and members of the public, requiring the ability to communicate effectively and maintain professionalism across differing personalities and potentially challenging situations. Flexibility in scheduling is necessary to accommodate travel, site access, and stakeholder availability, along with adherence to safety protocols in both office and field settings.
