Job summary

Sappi is seeking a capable supervisor to oversee Utilities and Recovery Department operations in Maine. You will lead, coach, and develop teams to ensure safe, environmentally sound, and efficient production with minimal supervision.

The role emphasizes safety compliance, equipment troubleshooting, and process improvement. The ideal candidate holds an Engineering degree and a Maine Steam Engineers license, with strong computer skills and experience in Proficy, PI, and SAP.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent required.
Maine Stationary Steam Engineers License required.
Understanding of Power Boilers, Turbine generators, and Recovery Boilers preferred.
Computer knowledge with Microsoft Suite, Proficy, PI, SAP preferred.

Responsibilities

Assure a safe work environment and enforce OSHA requirements.
Lead, coach and develop teams to operate safely and efficiently.
Conduct regular safety meetings with crews.
Work with maintenance on equipment problems and troubleshoot.
Drive process improvement to reduce variability, increase uptime, and minimize costs.
Utilize PI and Proficy for monitoring and troubleshooting.
Achieve or exceed operating budgets as specified by the department.
