Position Overview

This position prepares utility agreements and informational letters, performs annual railroad grade crossing inspections, prepares plans for the annual grade crossing improvement program, and supervises its construction. This position monitors reimbursable utility adjustments or relocations, and processes utility and railroad invoices for payment.

Essential Functions

• Inspects railroad grade crossings.
• Furnishes highway plans and other related data to utility companies or local agencies for the plotting of their facilities and for the preparation of plans and estimates for utility adjustments.
• Prepares utility agreements, informational letters, and railroad grade crossing plans.
• Supervises the construction of railroad grade crossing improvements and monitors reimbursable utility relocations or adjustments.
• Processes utility and railroad invoices for payment.
• Performs duties in compliance with departmental safety rules. Performs all duties in a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Completion of two years of college in civil engineering technology, pre-engineering or a job related technical/science curriculum PLUS five years of engineering experience; ORSeven years of engineering experience
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to develop and maintain cooperative relationships with departmental staff and the public
• Good oral and written communication skills
