The City of Winston-Salem is seeking a qualified individual to operate and maintain sewage treatment plant equipment. This role involves monitoring equipment performance, conducting laboratory tests, and ensuring compliance with operational standards. Candidates should have a high school diploma, a valid Driver’s license, and the ability to obtain a Grade II Wastewater Operator certificate.
Under immediate supervision performs routine technical and responsible skilled work in the operation and maintenance of sewage treatment plant equipment.
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma and some experience in operation and maintenance of machinery and equipment in a sewage treatment plant.
Must have a valid Driver License. Possession or ability to obtain a valid Grade II Wastewater Operator certificate from the State of North Carolina required. Shift work required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: (Reasonable accommodations may substitute for physical requirements listed): Must be able to lift or move up to 50 lbs. and maneuver up to 1 mile; must be able to operate light and medium equipment; work with large and small objects. This position will work outdoors and may be exposed to changing weather, adverse smells and sights, loud sounds and repetitive operations.
This position is NON-EXEMPT and is eligible for OVERTIME.
