Job summary

Nestlé Purina North America’s Batavia facility is seeking an Utilities Maintenance Technician to maintain and optimize critical utilities systems within a modern manufacturing environment. The role requires troubleshooting and proactive maintenance across mechanical and electrical equipment to support continuous production.

The position starts at $37.50/hour with a progression plan up to $41.78/hour, plus bonuses and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Current High Pressure Boiler Operator/Stationary Engineer license from Ohio.
  • 2+ years of maintenance and troubleshooting experience in manufacturing or industrial settings.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and optimize utilities systems and related mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Monitor, repair, and maintain compressors, boilers, chillers, cooling towers, wastewater, water systems, refrigeration, and fire systems.
  • Perform preventative maintenance to prevent failures and ensure safe, efficient operations.
  • Use diagrams, schematics, and CMMS and diagnostic tools to analyze root causes and take corrective action.
  • Collaborate with team to maintain equipment and resolve technical issues.
  • Perform basic rigging, pipefitting, and welding in an industrial environment.
  • Model safety practices and train team members on utilities expertise.

As a Utilities Maintenance Technician, you will perform proactive and reactive maintenance on mechanical utilities systems and equipment. You will troubleshoot, repair and optimize utilities systems that provide the critical core of our manufacturing operations. Day to day, you will work cross-functionally with other maintenance, engineering and production personnel to solve problems and implement solutions quickly and safely to keep factory assets operating efficiently.

This position will initially work Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m., and then transition into working 4, 10-hour days during training and orientation. Once 12 weeks of training and orientation are completed, the shift will transition to nights (6 p.m.-6 a.m.), operating on a 2-2-3 schedule format (week one: two days on, two days off, three days on; week two: two days off, two days on, three days off).

The starting pay for this position is $37.50/hr. with a strategic Maintenance Progression Plan that provides for increasing wages up to $41.78/hr., based on knowledge/skill demonstration, technical assessments and performance reviews.   • Troubleshoot and optimize utilities systems and related mechanical and electrical equipment and components
  • Monitor, maintain and repair compressors, boilers, chillers, cooling towers, wastewater treatment, domestic water, hot water, refrigeration and fire systems
  • Execute preventative maintenance (PM) activities to proactively prevent failures and promote safe and efficient operations
  • Utilize diagrams and schematics, digital tools such as computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), mechanical and electrical tools, and diagnostic instruments (for vibration, thermal imaging, acoustics, etc.) to reduce unplanned stoppages through effective root cause analysis and corrective action
  • Collaborate with team members to maintain equipment and solve technical problems
  • Perform basic rigging, mechanical practices, pipefitting and welding skills in an industrial environment
  • Model safety and share utilities expertise to train other team members
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • 2+ years of experience in maintenance and troubleshooting of mechanical utilities systems and equipment in a manufacturing, industrial, military or related environment
  • Possession of a current High Pressure Boiler Operator License or Stationary Engineer License from the state of Ohio

  • Must be willing to work 6:00 p.m.-6:00 a.m. on a 2-2-3 schedule

Pay: $37.50 - per hour

The pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills and abilities as well as geographic location. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at top of range.
