RED-Rochester is a multi-utility generation plant and district energy supplier to one of the world’s most comprehensive industrial parks: the Eastman Business Park. Supporting a 1,200-acre campus, RED-Rochester has the utilities, infrastructure, technical services, support services, space and complementary regional resources to benefit a wide range of industry verticals. We are seeking a Pipefitter who enjoys the challenge of maintaining a dynamic infrastructure. This role is responsible for the installation, repair and maintenance of piping, piping components, valves & supports for Steam, Compressed Air, Hydraulic Water, or Oil Systems across all facilities and buildings located within Eastman Business Park owned and operated by RED Rochester, LLC.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain clear and consistent communication regarding the current status, performance, and needs of your assigned location with RED-Rochester team supervisor, maintenance planner, and operations staff.
- Assist Maintenance Planner to develop standard preventive maintenance routines to ensure maximum equipment uptime and lifespan for all responsible systems.
- Assist Maintenance Planner to develop corrective (repair) maintenance job plans to ensure timely completion of equipment repairs.
- Coordinate with Maintenance Planner all shutdown planning (routine & emergency) for the execution of maintenance activities.
- Complete all planned maintenance routines for assigned locations, documenting actions within the RED-Rochester work order management system (MAXIMO).
- Complete all assigned corrective maintenance actions, documenting actions within MAXIMO.
- Assist with any plant overhaul, upgrade, or modernization activities.
- Supervise outside contractors executing work within your assigned location to ensure compliance with RED-Rochester safety policies.
- Work within the larger team structure for major emergencies or catastrophic failures.
- Work consistently in a safety mindset, following all prescribed safety policies at RED-Rochester, LLC.
- Respond to emergent events, trouble-calls, pipe ruptures, or leaks 24/7.
- Utilize hoists, pulleys, dollies, rollers, trucks, overhead cranes, rigging, scaffolding, ladders & shop equipment.
Job Competencies:
- High-pressure piping systems and equipment such as steam heating, steam generation, and hydraulic systems.
- Rigging & safety signaling related to unloading or positioning material for installation.
- Utilization of standard pipefitting tools, such as cutting, grinding, bending, joining, & threading equipment.
- General knowledge of Boilers, Furnaces, Electrical Generators, Air Compressors, Refrigeration, Air Conditioning & Lubrication systems.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work independently or within a team environment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Ability to lay out routing, placement, pitch, elevation, pressure reduction, and operation of piping systems.
- Demonstrated troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to follow procedures, work instructions, and safety/environmental regulations.
- General knowledge of computers and business applications such as Microsoft Office, IBM Maximo, etc.
Education and Experience:
- Armed Forces training, documented fitter apprenticeship training, or equivalent field experience required.
- Applicable Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required.
Qualifications or Licenses:
- Enter and register into an Apprentice Agreement (Form AT-10) with the NYS Department of Labor for the Pipefitter trade within 60 days.
- Register and actively participate in a RED-Rochester Sponsored 5-Year Apprenticeship Training Program within 60 days.
- Must obtain required safety operator licenses for fork truck, man lift, and scissor lift within 12 months (Employer Provided).
- Immediately obtain OSHA 10hr certification.
- Must obtain OSHA 30hr certification within 12 months.
- Must have an unencumbered valid NYS driver’s license.
Physical Demands:
- Position requires strenuous effort, climbing, stair climbing, and crawling.
- Lifting and carrying of equipment weighing up to 50 lbs, and moving heavier items as necessary.
- Potential to enter manholes and work in confined spaces.
- Ability to work in overhead environments using ladders, scaffolding, or lifts.
Hourly rate band for this role is $24.00 to $32.00. Offers will be based on experience and skill of candidates.
