Job description

RED-Rochester is a multi-utility generation plant and district energy supplier to one of the world’s most comprehensive industrial parks: the Eastman Business Park. Supporting a 1,200-acre campus, RED-Rochester has the utilities, infrastructure, technical services, support services, space and complementary regional resources to benefit a wide range of industry verticals. We are seeking a Pipefitter who enjoys the challenge of maintaining a dynamic infrastructure. This role is responsible for the installation, repair and maintenance of piping, piping components, valves & supports for Steam, Compressed Air, Hydraulic Water, or Oil Systems across all facilities and buildings located within Eastman Business Park owned and operated by RED Rochester, LLC.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Maintain clear and consistent communication regarding the current status, performance, and needs of your assigned location with RED-Rochester team supervisor, maintenance planner, and operations staff.
  2. Assist Maintenance Planner to develop standard preventive maintenance routines to ensure maximum equipment uptime and lifespan for all responsible systems.
  3. Assist Maintenance Planner to develop corrective (repair) maintenance job plans to ensure timely completion of equipment repairs.
  4. Coordinate with Maintenance Planner all shutdown planning (routine & emergency) for the execution of maintenance activities.
  5. Complete all planned maintenance routines for assigned locations, documenting actions within the RED-Rochester work order management system (MAXIMO).
  6. Complete all assigned corrective maintenance actions, documenting actions within MAXIMO.
  7. Assist with any plant overhaul, upgrade, or modernization activities.
  8. Supervise outside contractors executing work within your assigned location to ensure compliance with RED-Rochester safety policies.
  9. Work within the larger team structure for major emergencies or catastrophic failures.
  10. Work consistently in a safety mindset, following all prescribed safety policies at RED-Rochester, LLC.
  11. Respond to emergent events, trouble-calls, pipe ruptures, or leaks 24/7.
  12. Utilize hoists, pulleys, dollies, rollers, trucks, overhead cranes, rigging, scaffolding, ladders & shop equipment.
Job Competencies:
  1. High-pressure piping systems and equipment such as steam heating, steam generation, and hydraulic systems.
  2. Rigging & safety signaling related to unloading or positioning material for installation.
  3. Utilization of standard pipefitting tools, such as cutting, grinding, bending, joining, & threading equipment.
  4. General knowledge of Boilers, Furnaces, Electrical Generators, Air Compressors, Refrigeration, Air Conditioning & Lubrication systems.
  5. Excellent communication skills.
  6. Ability to work independently or within a team environment.
  7. Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  8. Ability to lay out routing, placement, pitch, elevation, pressure reduction, and operation of piping systems.
  9. Demonstrated troubleshooting skills.
  10. Ability to follow procedures, work instructions, and safety/environmental regulations.
  11. General knowledge of computers and business applications such as Microsoft Office, IBM Maximo, etc.
Education and Experience:
  1. Armed Forces training, documented fitter apprenticeship training, or equivalent field experience required.
  2. Applicable Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required.
Qualifications or Licenses:
  1. Enter and register into an Apprentice Agreement (Form AT-10) with the NYS Department of Labor for the Pipefitter trade within 60 days.
  2. Register and actively participate in a RED-Rochester Sponsored 5-Year Apprenticeship Training Program within 60 days.
  3. Must obtain required safety operator licenses for fork truck, man lift, and scissor lift within 12 months (Employer Provided).
  4. Immediately obtain OSHA 10hr certification.
  5. Must obtain OSHA 30hr certification within 12 months.
  6. Must have an unencumbered valid NYS driver’s license.
Physical Demands:
  1. Position requires strenuous effort, climbing, stair climbing, and crawling.
  2. Lifting and carrying of equipment weighing up to 50 lbs, and moving heavier items as necessary.
  3. Potential to enter manholes and work in confined spaces.
  4. Ability to work in overhead environments using ladders, scaffolding, or lifts.

Hourly rate band for this role is $24.00 to $32.00. Offers will be based on experience and skill of candidates.
