Utilities Loader Operator - LO0525

Sanders Brothers Construction Company is currently hiring full-time support staff for our Utilities Department.

Role and Responsibilities

The Operator I will support Utilities crews during the installation of underground water, sewer, and drainage pipelines. Responsibilities include operating a loader for earth moving and backfilling operations.

1. Follow directions of the utility foreman.
2. Operate heavy equipment—loader—safely.
3. Perform basic preventive maintenance on equipment.
4. Work within confined spaces (after required training) at varying depths.
5. Assist with the installation of trench boxes.
6. Identify and communicate poor trench conditions to ensure safety.
7. Assist utility brick masons as needed.
8. Help place ductile, concrete, and steel piping.
9. Assist during utility pipe repairs.
10. Work in varying weather conditions and environments, including dusty, wet, and noisy settings.
11. Maintain cleanliness and safety of company vehicle, tools, and work site, reporting safety concerns.
12. Comply with all SBCC policies, procedures, and safety standards.
13. Perform other general duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

1. 1-2 years of experience operating a loader.
2. High school diploma/GED preferred.
3. Ability to efficiently and safely move materials using a loader.
4. Understanding of safe equipment operation, including alarms and warning signals.
5. May require DOT medical certification based on duties.
6. Must pass a negative drug test prior to hire and maintain throughout employment.
7. Meet SBCC's background check standards.
8. Ability to stand, crawl, and kneel for extended periods.
9. Ability to tolerate various weather conditions and environments, including dust, dirt, and loud noises.

Preferred Skills

1. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
2. Basic experience with excavators and bulldozers.
3. Ability to recognize and communicate trench conditions for safety.
