Job summary

Horrocks, based in Taylorsville, Utah, is hiring a Civil Engineer to drive transportation design, relocation coordination, and project constructability on major infrastructure efforts.

You will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, designers, and field staff to deliver compliant, on-time projects within budget. A BS in Civil Engineering and PE license are required, with 5+ years in transportation engineering and proficiency in MicroStation and MS Office.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering required.
  • Professional Engineering License required.
  • 5+ years of total experience in engineering/related fields.
  • 2+ years experience in transportation engineering, design or construction.
  • Ability to contribute effectively to engineering, design or construction projects.
  • Proficiency in MicroStation (ORD) and Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Work with a project team of engineers, designers, third‑party/utility coordinators and field personnel on the design, relocation, coordination, modification, analysis, and constructability of utility systems for transportation projects.
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and solve a wide variety of engineering and construction‑related issues.
  • Coordinate utility relocation/coordination efforts with Federal, State, and Local agencies or utility owners.
  • Follow Federal, State and Local codes, rules, regulations and requirements.
  • Coordinate design activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and client requirements.
  • Lead detailed design phases for all aspects of utility engineering and coordination work as part of a team.
  • Assist with preparation, review, and approval of proposals, contracts, and cost estimates.
  • Negotiate revisions and additions to contractual agreements with sub‑consultants and clients.
  • Work to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Prepare reports and studies presenting technical information clearly to meet client requirements.
  • Perform independent reviews of work including calculations and drawings.
  • Leadership opportunities may be available depending on experience.

Compensation: $100,000 - $140,000 / year

Responsibilities
  • Work with a project team consisting of engineers, designers, third‑party/utility coordinators and field personnel involved in the design, relocation, coordination, modification, analysis, and constructability of new and existing utility systems as part of large‑scale transportation projects
  • Work on challenging assignments that include investigating, troubleshooting, and solving a wide variety of engineering and construction‑related issues
  • Coordinate utility relocation/coordination efforts on behalf of Federal, State, and Local agencies or utility infrastructure owners
  • Follow Federal, State and Local codes, administrative rules, ordinances, regulations and requirements
  • Coordinate design activities to ensure installation and operations will comply with specifications, codes, and client requirements
  • Work with a team for the execution of detailed design phases for all aspects of utility engineering and coordination work
  • Assist with preparation, review, and/or approval of proposals, contracts, and cost estimates
  • Assist with negotiation of revisions, changes, and additions to contractual agreements with sub‑consultants, and clients
  • Work with a team to ensure projects are completed satisfactorily, on time, and within budget
  • Prepare reports and studies that present technical information in a clear and concise manner and meet client requirements
  • Perform independent reviews of work performed by others including calculations and drawing preparation
  • Leadership opportunities depending on experience
Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering Degree
  • Professional Engineering License
  • 5+ years of total experience
  • 2+ years of experience in transportation engineering, design or construction fields
  • Ability to effectively contribute to engineering, design or construction projects
  • Proficiency in MicroStation (ORD)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required
