Pasco County Utilities is seeking an entry-level Utilities Mechanical Specialist Trainee to learn inspection, installation, maintenance and repair of Pasco County owned water, wastewater, and reuse facilities. You will assist with pumps, valves, meters, and test equipment, maintain CMMS and spreadsheet records, and perform routine maintenance and emergency repairs as needed.

This is an entry position where you will learn the fundamental duties and technical work related to the inspection, installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of Pasco County owned well sites, potable water, wastewater, and reclaimed water treatment facilities, and related equipment. ***Pasco County provides a career path for advancement from a Utilities Mechanical Specialist Trainee to Utilities Mechanical Specialist I, Utilities Mechanical Specialist II, Utilities Mechanical Specialist III, and Utilities Mechanical Specialist IV when certifications, license, experience, and performance requirements and expectations are met. Depending on assigned area of responsibility, incumbents in the position may perform one or more of the activities described below:
Ability to lift and/or move up to 80 pounds and also push or pull heavy objects. May use a handling device (dolly, cart, etc.) or work with another team member to lift and/or move excessively heavy objects. Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, written and visual communication. Ability to frequently bend, climb, stoop, squat, and walk. Ability to perform strenuous physical labor for extended periods of time. Must be available for overtime work as required. Work location my vary for this location. Ability to work outside, occasionally under adverse conditions.
Graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma.
Must possess a valid Florida driver's license. Must be able to obtain a valid Florida CDL Class 'B" Permit within thirty (30) days of employment.
