We are hiring immediately for full time UTILITIES CONTROL TECHNICIAN 2 positions.

Location: University of South Florida - 4202 East Fowler Avenue, Tampa, FL 33620. (Openings at other locations within school district available) Note: online applications accepted only.

Schedule: Full time schedules. Days and hours may vary; more details upon interview.

Requirement: Previous experience is preferred.

Pay Range: $27.00 per hour to $31.00 per hour

Job Summary

Summary: Assists with the day-to-day upkeep, maintenance and smooth operation of the building and campus. Repairs, maintains and assists in the installation of equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Install, calibrate, and maintain various types of metering for Chilled Water, Hot Water and Domestic Water production systems for compliance requirements on annual basis.
  • Install, modify, and maintain hardware components for utilities controls and metering systems including enclosures, electrical conduit, sensor wiring, communications wiring, power supplies, etc. as needed.
  • Responsible for all Utility reimbursement/billing monthly for the campus, including meter reading, compiling, and verifying all utilities metering data for the reimbursement/billing system.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and perform corrective and preventative maintenance on Energy Management System (EMS) and various Utilities control systems instrumentation including creating/updating graphics, maintaining point database, and maintaining communications infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain variable frequency drives (VFDs), and lift station controls.
  • Understand and troubleshoot equipment following proper control sequences of operation
  • Maintain proper documentation for IP addresses, and BACnet ID’s.
  • Perform integration of various controllers and communication protocols.
  • Maintain alarm notifications, energy setbacks, scheduling, reviewing constructions documents, performing inspections, and commissioning (as needed) on existing control systems.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and replace Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
  • Utilize advance test equipment such as ultrasonic flow meters, digital multi-meters, oscilloscope, and other specialized test equipment to troubleshoot various instrumentation.
  • Assist leadership and engineers by compiling utilities production and consumption data for efficiency analysis, future planning, and troubleshooting.
  • Assist leadership and engineers with institutional/historical knowledge for system design and future planning. Review construction drawings for EMS, Utilities Controls and Utilities metering systems.
  • Provide oversight for proper implementation of EMS and Utilities metering system for new building construction.
  • Assist leadership to co-ordinate, manage and monitor contractor activities for EMS and Utilities system controls related initiatives and projects during their planning and implementation.
  • Use computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) for work orders.
  • Read and maintain, where necessary, appropriate system blueprints and schematics. Maintains appropriate logs and records of systems operations to help create Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Maintain records, initiate purchases of materials and parts used for repairs
  • Drive USF vehicles, clean & maintain shop, and clean & maintain personal equipment and assigned tools/equipment.
  • May provide leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to a subordinate group.
  • Perform hurricane preparation duties such as clearing roof drains, drain grates, filling and deploying sandbags.
  • Perform additional related duties as required.
