  • Lead and advance all eight elements of Operations Excellence (Compliance, Health & Safety, Reliability, Production, Yield, Cost, Quality, and Capital Projects) within the Utilities organization.
  • Lead organizational change as the department continues advancing its implementation of Georgia-Pacific's Asset Maintenance Work Process (AMWP), utilizing a strong understanding of equipment criticality, planning and scheduling best practices, and economic decision making.
  • Build the capability of your team to help them reach their full potential applying Principle Based Management & our Guiding Principles.
  • Develop and execute strategies that close performance gaps and improve results across safety, reliability, production, cost, and people capabilities.

Georgia-Pacific's Naheola Mill in Pennington, Alabama is seeking a Utilities Business Unit Leader to lead a critical operation supporting our Pulp, Power, and Recovery assets. This role provides strategic and operational leadership for a team of 60+ employees, including 9 direct reports, and offers the opportunity to accelerate reliability, operational excellence, and team capability across one of Georgia-Pacific's largest integrated manufacturing facilities.

The successful candidate will play a key role in transforming the effectiveness of the Utilities organization by improving reliability, work processes, equipment performance, and team member capabilities. Success in this role can create opportunities for expanded leadership responsibilities across manufacturing operations, technical expertise, and enterprise leadership pathways. Strong contributions in this role will prepare you for increased responsibility across a variety of career paths within Georgia-Pacific and Koch.

Our Team

Georgia-Pacific’s Naheola Mill located in Pennington, Alabama, is a manufacturing site for the company’s well‑known consumer products business. More than 900 employees produce a wide range of products for the consumer business, including Angel Soft® bath tissue, Sparkle® paper towels, as well as bleached paperboard used in Dixie® paper cups and plates.

The mill is the largest employer in the community and is engaged in supporting community outreach, workforce development and education. The area is a sportsman’s paradise with world‑class hunting for deer, turkey and other small game and is bounded on the east by the Tombigbee River which provides such recreation as freshwater fishing, boating and water skiing. Residents of this area enjoy the mild climate, a low cost of living, and is an easy drive to the many resort communities and soft white‑sand beaches of the Gulf Coast.

What You Will Do

Lead and advance all eight elements of Operations Excellence (Compliance, Health & Safety, Reliability, Production, Yield, Cost, Quality, and Capital Projects) within the Utilities organization. The Utilities department at Naheola includes Recovery & Evaporators, Kiln & Recaust, Steam & Power, and Water & Effluent Treatment.

Lead organizational change as the department continues advancing its implementation of Georgia-Pacific's Asset Maintenance Work Process (AMWP), utilizing a strong understanding of equipment criticality, planning and scheduling best practices, and economic decision making.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • Experience leading a dynamic team in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Experience advancing team capabilities through both strategic leadership and tactical execution.
  • Experience supporting operations within utilities, power generation, recovery, pulp, paper, chemical processing, or other heavy industrial manufacturing environments.
  • Experience managing a financial plan including both operational and maintenance expenditures.

  • Experience implementing asset reliability or maintenance work process improvements.
