The University of Texas at Austin's High School (UTHS) Special Purpose District provides programs and services to help high school students, teachers and families across Texas and the world. UTHS strives to help and assist students as they move along their educational pathways. This position requires fingerprinting and successful completion of a background check. This position requires reporting to work on the UT main campus, however currently the UT High School is piloting a hybrid remote schedule with three days on campus and two days remote. This position requires remote internet access.
Serve as a lead learning specialist for the UT High School Science program. Design online courses, final exams, and K-12 credit by exams for UT High School students and district partners. Facilitate online learning and coordinate support to ensure student success.
Master's degree in education, science, or a closely related fieldand five years of secondary teaching experience, or bachelor's degree and seven years of secondary teaching experience.Texas Teacher Certification in high school science and atleast three years of experience teaching secondary science courses in Texas public schools.Experience designing instruction and assessments for high school science courses. Comprehensive understanding of Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), STAAR expectations, and best practices in science instruction and assessment. Experience implementing support for a variety of student group needs, including emergent bilingual, Gifted/Talented, and special education students. Successful experience supporting students to achieve targeted objectives and tracking and reporting student data. Experience with online instruction. Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task with a high level of proficiency. Professional demeanor. Exceptional organizational and communication skills.
Ph.D. in education, science, or a closely related field.More than five years of teaching experience.More than three years of experience teaching science courses in Texas public schools.Experience teaching multiple high school science courses, including Pre-AP/AP, Honors, Dual Credit, or IB. Three or more years of experience in a leadership role in an educational setting. Experience developing and delivering professional development to educators. In-depth understanding of the TEKS, Texas Education Code, FERPA, and graduation requirements. Extensive knowledge of best practices in assessment proctoring and scoring. Experience working with K-12 science curriculum, instruction, or assessment in a learning management system.Educator certification in multiple subject areas. Experience developing or facilitating online instruction. Experience leading training for teachers for curriculum, social-emotional, G/T, Advanced Placement, or emergent bilingual strategies. Experience with blended learning instruction. Experience presenting or marketing at conferences.
$77,600+ depending on qualifications
Employment Eligibility
Regular staff who have been employed in their current position for the last six continuous months are eligible for openings being recruited for through University-Wide or Open Recruiting, to include both promotional opportunities and lateral transfers. Staff who are promotion/transfer eligible may apply for positions without supervisor approval.
The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
A criminal history background check will be required for finalist(s) under consideration for this position.
