Job summary

ExpertHiring is seeking a USPTO‑registered patent attorney or agent in Washington, DC. You will draft and prosecute U.S. patent applications, respond to Office Actions, and discuss cases with examiners to move filings forward.

You must be fluent in English and Chinese, with strong legal drafting, organization, and deadline management. Knowledge of SEPs and related tech sectors is preferred, with extensive interaction across clients and teams.

Qualifications

• Active USPTO registration as a patent attorney or patent agent.
• Experience drafting and prosecuting U.S. patent applications.
• Experience preparing Office Action responses and communicating with USPTO examiners.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. patent law, the MPEP, and USPTO rules.
• Professional fluency in both Chinese and English, with written legal drafting.
• Strong organization and deadline management skills.

Responsibilities

• Draft and file U.S. patent applications relating to Standard Essential Patents.
• Respond to USPTO rejections and objections with technical and legal arguments.
• Discuss applications with patent examiners to advance prosecution.
• Prepare and file IDS disclosures.
• Draft appeal briefs and support PTAB proceedings.
• Advise clients on prosecution strategy and patentability.
