Qualifications

• Industrial custodial/maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• Forklift experience required.
• Experience using hand tools required.
• Comfortable around manufacturing equipment and industrial environments.
• Lockout/Tagout knowledge preferred; basic electrical/plumbing helpful.

Responsibilities

• Collect and dispose of trash, recycling, machining chips, and debris.
• Operate recycling equipment and perform facility cleaning tasks.
• Sweep and scrub safe work areas; maintain exterior areas.
• Inspect rooftops, clear drains, perform preventative maintenance.
• Complete minor repairs including basic electrical/plumbing tasks.
• Change lightbulbs and assist with lighting maintenance.
• Safely operate a forklift as part of daily duties.
• Work at heights using scissor/boom lifts when needed.
• Support facility safety and security procedures.

Reporting To: Facilities & Maintenance Supervisor

Position Overview

PeopleShare is hiring a Maintenance Custodian for a manufacturing facility in Virginia Beach. This is a hands-on industrial custodial and facility support role responsible for maintaining cleanliness, safety, and the overall appearance of the facility and surrounding property. This is not a traditional office janitorial position and includes working around manufacturing operations, industrial equipment, preventative maintenance activities, and minor facility repairs.

What You'll Do

• Collect and dispose of trash, recycling, machining chips, and facility debris
• Operate industrial recycling equipment, including cardboard and wood balers/crushers
• Sweep, scrub, and maintain safe work areas throughout the manufacturing facility
• Maintain exterior areas, including parking lots, smoking areas, landscaping, and grounds
• Inspect rooftop areas and clear drains and spouts as needed
• Perform preventative maintenance tasks according to established schedules
• Assist with general facility and grounds maintenance projects
• Complete minor repairs, including basic electrical and plumbing tasks
• Change lightbulbs and assist with facility lighting maintenance
• Safely operate a forklift as part of daily responsibilities
• Work safely at heights using scissor lifts, boom lifts, or similar equipment
• Support facility safety and security procedures

What We’re Looking For

• Industrial custodial, facilities, or maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
• Forklift experience required
• Experience using hand tools required
• Comfortable working around manufacturing equipment and industrial environments
• Knowledge of industrial cleaning equipment preferred
• Basic electrical, plumbing, or facility maintenance experience is a plus
• Lockout/Tagout knowledge preferred
• Scissor lift or aerial lift experience preferred
• Comfortable working indoors and outdoors, including at heights
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. as needed
• Dependable, safety-focused, and able to work independently
