Luckman
Work Schedule: This is an on-call position with hours to be determined. The schedule varies and primarily includes weekends and evenings. It is a non-exempt position. The appointment expires on or before June 30, 2025, and may be renewed depending on funding availability. This position is not eligible for benefits.
Summary: Under the general supervision of the house manager, the Usher is responsible for welcoming and accommodating audience members attending performances at the Luckman Theatre, Intimate Theatre, and Luckman Gallery. The Usher must know and enforce all Luckman rules and regulations. This is an on-call position, hired as needed.
Essential Functions: The incumbent will seat audience members, assist patrons to their seats, and answer frequently asked questions. They will take tickets, monitor doors for non-ticketed patrons, set up tables and chairs, and manage will-call and gallery signage on the Street of the Arts. After performances, they will pick up items inside the theatre auditorium, submit lists of found items to the theatre manager, assist with clearing the auditorium, and distribute programs, marketing materials, and surveys as needed.
Requirements: Must communicate effectively with the public in a polite and professional manner. Ability to make quick decisions and remain calm during pre-show load-in is mandatory. The incumbent should be proactive and understand the needs of both the audience and performers. Ability to follow directions and make informed decisions is essential.
Desired Qualifications: Participation in extracurricular high school activities such as music, drama, or sports is preferred. The candidate should demonstrate interest or ability in working within a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A satisfactory background check, including a criminal records check, is required before employment. Failure to pass the background check may affect employment status.
