Job summary

B&H Photo Video in New Jersey is seeking a Used Merchandise Evaluator to perform evaluation, testing and processing of customer orders within the Used Merchandise Department. You will ensure accurate condition assessments and proper routing to inventory, repairs, or resell.

This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, high-energy environment, and collaboration with multiple teams.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years retail experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience troubleshooting photo/video items, computers and other electronics is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, test and troubleshoot electronic equipment and components.
• Examine items received and follow SOPs.
• Modify item descriptions for accurate platform and inventory listings.
• Identify missing parts or items needing repair.
• Re-box damaged items and reweigh accordingly.
• Develop and improve in-house testing processes while meeting department goals.
• Collaborate with Reverse Logistics teams including Return to Vendor and Used Inventory Stock.

Job Overview

TheUsed Merchandise Evaluatorperforms necessary steps to fulfill the customer’s orders in accordance with the company’s used merchandise resale policies. Depending on the conditioning assigned to the item, the item is forwarded to used inventory/stock to be resold or sent to the repairs team

• Responsible for evaluation, testing and troubleshooting electronic equipment, components and parts
• Examine and evaluate store transferred items received by the department following the Standard Operating Procedures
• Modify item description to ensure an accurate detailed description on all platforms and inventory database
• Identify products that are missing parts or needing repair
• Re-box items that come in damaged boxes and assign them to be reweighed
• Develop and improve in house testing process while maintaining and exceeding department goals
• Collaborate with multiple teams within Reverse Logistics Operations including Return to Vendor and Used Inventory Stock

Preferred Education, Experience and Licenses

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a Retail environment
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous experience troubleshooting photo/video items, computers and other electronics is preferred but not required
• Previous technical training experiences a plus.

Physical Environment/Occupational Risks

• Must be able to lift 50lbs independently and up to 80lbs with assistance.
• Extended periods of sitting/standing/walking
