Job summary

Chapman BMW Chandler seeks a skilled Used Car Reconditioning Technician to inspect and repair trade-ins and pre-owned vehicles for the active inventory. You will diagnose, maintain, and repair systems to ensure safety and reliability before sale, reporting findings to the Service Director.

Candidates should have 4+ years’ automotive experience, own tools, and a valid license; BMW experience preferred with ASE certifications.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 4 years of automotive inspections, diagnostics, repairs and maintenance.
• BMW experience and ASE certifications preferred.
• Workmanship with strong troubleshooting and problem solving abilities.
• Good written and verbal communication and basic computer skills.
• Collaborative team player with own tools and toolbox.
• Ability to handle physical demands and maintain a clean driving record.
• Pre-employment drug screening and background check required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct multi-point inspections on used cars to identify damages and maintenance needs, documenting findings and recommended repairs.
• Diagnose, maintain and repair vehicle systems including engine, transmission, electrical, brakes, steering, suspension, and HVAC.
• Inform Service Director of additional services or repairs and estimate time to complete.
• Process work on repair orders per dealership standards and document all work.

Core Responsibilities

• Complete comprehensive multi-point inspections on used cars to identify damages and maintenance needs, documenting findings and recommended repairs.
• Perform thorough diagnostics, maintenance and repairs to vehicle systems including engine, transmission, electrical, steering, suspension, brakes, air conditioning, etc.
• Inform the Service Director of any additional services or repairs needed, estimating the time needed to complete the work.
• Perform work on the repair order per dealership standards and document all work completed.

Desired Qualifications And Experience

• A minimum of 4 years of experience performing automotive inspections, diagnostics, repairs and maintenance required.
• BMW experience and certifications are preferred; ASE certifications are a plus.
• Demonstrates thorough workmanship coupled with strong troubleshooting and problem solving abilities.
• Effective written and verbal communication and general computer skills.
• Collaborative and willing to work as part of a team.
• Must have your own tools and tool box.
• Ability to handle the physical demands of the job (frequent heavy lifting and standing, bending or kneeling for extended periods).
• Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check.

Hours And Work Environment

Our Service Department is open Monday – Friday 7am – 6pm and Saturday 8am – 5pm. We are looking for flexible candidates to work various shifts during the department’s business hours.
