Base pay range

$33.00/hr - $36.00/hr

Position Summary

What you'll do:

  1. Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on transport refrigeration units (TRU) according to OEM procedures, maintaining and repairing refrigeration trailer interior walls, floors, doors, and accessories such as bulkheads, evaporator guards, and remote controllers.
  2. Operate transport refrigeration units in diagnostic and service test modes, diagnose and repair electrical systems using manuals and diagnostic tools, and maintain refrigeration systems including reclaim/recycle, leak checks, solder repairs, and recharges.
  3. Maintain and repair trailers, including electrical wiring, lighting, landing gear, interior panels, roof repairs, tires, seals, flooring, and doors.
  4. Perform preventative maintenance on tractor-trailer braking systems, including adjustments or replacements.
  5. Install and dismount tires, repair flats, and perform advanced axle alignments using electronic equipment.
  6. Conduct fuel drops, monitor safety compliance, collect fuel samples, and complete documentation.
  7. Identify warrantable repairs, document conditions, and process warranty claims.
  8. Assess maintenance needs, identify parts, and conduct repairs on all Walmart equipment, including trucks, shop equipment, and vehicles, following DOT guidelines.
  9. Complete work orders and logs, assist other technicians, and adhere to company policies and ethics.
  10. Prioritize work, communicate progress, and suggest improvements.
  11. Embrace diversity, build trust, communicate positively, and mentor others.
  12. Maintain high standards of integrity and ethics, support Walmart’s values, and be accountable.
  13. Deliver results with a customer-first approach, consider long-term impacts, and support continuous improvement and learning.

Minimum qualifications include:

  • 3 years’ experience in trailer refrigeration maintenance and repair
  • EPA Section 608 Refrigerant Handling Certification
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Brake inspection qualification as per FMCSA regulations
  • Vehicle inspection qualification as per FMCSA regulations

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Class A CDL and DOT certification
  • Experience maintaining tractors and trailers
  • Thermo King Master Tech, Carrier Master Tech, or equivalent certifications
  • Computer skills (email, spreadsheets, documents)
  • ASE Certification
