Position Summary...

What you'll do...

We are currently searching for a seasoned Diesel Truck/Trailer Mechanic to join our Supply Chain team at Walmart. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing preventive maintenance and repairs on our tractor and trailer equipment. This role requires a keen eye for safety, precision, and attention to detail.

Responsibilities:

Diagnose, Maintain, Repair, and Replace Major Drive Train Components:

  • Transmissions, automated transmissions, differentials, etc.
  • Tractor or trailer advanced HVAC systems, including heaters and air conditioning units.

Advanced Diagnostics:

  • Components of tractor engines, drive trains, HVAC systems, and communication systems using technical and electronic equipment.

Electrical and Wiring Repairs:

  • Tractor and trailer light assemblies.

Brake System Components:

  • Hydraulic, air, anti-skid, S-cam, ABS, EBS.

Tire Maintenance and Repair:

  • Install/dismount tires, repairing flats, balancing tires, advanced axle alignments using electronic digital equipment like Hunter/Beeline.

Communication Equipment:

  • Radios, antennas, CB, XM, Lytx cameras, Peoplenet equipment.

Engine Components:

  • Water pump, fan, alternator, turbochargers, injectors, ECMs.

Inspection and Diagnostics:

  • Perform 8-point inspection on yard and over-the-road tractors.
  • Use OEM software like Cummins Insite, Diagnostic Link, Wabco Toolbox, Bendix ACom Diagnostics.

Warrantable Repairs:

  • Enter accurate information on condition, cause, and correction into the maintenance system, complete warranty tags, and process warranty claims.

Preventative Maintenance:

  • Tractor-trailer brake system components, adjustment or replacement.

Work Orders and Documentation:

  • Complete work orders, records, logs, and other documents.

Communication:

  • Communicate with individuals or groups verbally and/or in writing.

Driveline and Trailer Maintenance:

  • Maintain and repair driveline components, trailers including lights, landing gear, interior panels, roof repairs, floors, doors, and threshold plates.

Equipment Maintenance:

  • Provide preventative maintenance and repairs on all Walmart equipment.

Wash Bay Operations:

  • Wash tractor-trailers, maintain wash bay equipment, and perform scheduled preventative maintenance.

Fuel Drops:

  • Receive fuel drops, ensure safety compliance, monitor tank levels, and complete appropriate paperwork.

Prepare Fuel Samples:

  • Prepare fuel samples for analysis and shipment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 2 years' experience in tractor and trailer inspection and repair or a technical school degree, or certification in Heavy Duty Truck/Trailer Maintenance.
  • Valid state-issued driver's license.
  • Brake inspection qualification as defined in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations, Section 396.25.
  • Vehicle inspection qualification as defined in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations, Section 396.19.

The hourly wage range for this position is $33.95-$37.45*

*The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location.

Additional compensation in the form of premiums may be paid in amounts ranging from $0.35 per hour to $3.00 per hour in specific circumstances. Premiums may be based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed. Multiple premiums may apply if applicable criteria are met.
