Position Summary...
Provides evidence-based vision care to ensure patients' health and wellbeing by recommending and prescribing medications and other treatment options, such as red eye, LASIK surgery, and cataract surgery, using evidence-based care guidelines. Delivers routine vision care, educates patients and store associates on eye health, including contact lens care, disease state management, and safety factors. Recommends appropriate patient follow-up, consults with other health professionals to prepare and coordinate patient care plans within optometry scope of practice per state board, and provides patients with referrals to ophthalmologists and other healthcare professionals as needed. Follows up with patients and other health professionals regarding diagnostics tests or other patient information.
Evaluates patients' health conditions across the full scope of vision center services, such as visual acuity, visual function, and eye health, by reviewing medical history and performing comprehensive eye examinations. Examines eyes using observation instruments and pharmaceutical agents to determine visual acuity, perception, focus, coordination, and identify signs of vision defects. Prescribes, fits, and adjusts eyeglasses, contact lenses, and other vision aids. Orders, interprets, and assesses diagnostic tests like glaucoma testing and OCT. Develops treatment plans based on clinical presentation using evidence-based guidelines. Provides additional vision treatments, such as foreign body removal, as necessary.
Represents the company in vision care and patient engagement by delivering exceptional customer service. Maintains and updates patient information in vision center systems accurately and confidentially. Assists vision center staff with best practices and procedures, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and Walmart guidelines. Performs administrative and retail tasks as necessary. Collaborates with internal stakeholders and external healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care and high-quality service.
Provides overall direction by analyzing business objectives and customer needs, developing and implementing strategies, and evaluating operational processes to ensure desired outcomes. Develops and maintains a highly skilled and engaged workforce through talent recruitment, development, and succession planning. Promotes a respectful environment aligned with company standards of integrity and ethics.
Builds partnerships and networks to achieve business goals, leads community outreach initiatives, and supports associate efforts in these areas.

The annual salary range for this position is $135,000.00-$200,000.00, with additional bonuses and potential regional pay adjustments.
Doctoral degree in Optometry (OD) from an accredited school. Licensed optometrist in good standing in the state of practice.
Additional healthcare experience preferred.
