Walmart seeks a General Manager in Indianapolis to supervise and develop management and hourly associates. The role involves overseeing performance, financial accountability, and community engagement, ensuring a high-performing, diverse team. Key qualifications include management experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management.
Provides supervision and development opportunities for management and hourly Associates in the Facility by hiring, training, mentoring, assigning duties, evaluating performance, providing recognition, and promoting a belonging mindset in the workplace.
Upholds the Company’s Open Door Policy by meeting with Associates, listening to concerns, researching issues, reviewing policies and procedures, and providing resolutions, including proactively seeking out Associate comments and concerns in their work areas.
Ensures compliance with Company policies and procedures by holding hourly Associates and managers accountable, analyzing reports, implementing safety and asset protection controls, maintaining quality standards, overseeing safety and operational reviews, developing action plans, and guiding the execution of Company programs and initiatives.
Initiates, directs, and participates in community outreach programs, encouraging and supporting Associates and managers in serving as good community members. This includes establishing relationships with key community groups, representing the Company, and promoting Company-sponsored programs, events, and sustainability efforts.
Drives financial performance by achieving sales and profit goals, controlling expenses, developing and implementing corrective plans, overseeing budgets, and analyzing economic trends and community needs for forecasting.
Models proper customer service techniques to ensure customer needs and complaints are addressed within Company standards, and directs the management team in facility operations, merchandising, and company direction.
Builds high-performing teams, embraces diversity, and fosters a workplace of belonging where all associates can thrive. Works collaboratively, communicates effectively, and motivates through energy and positivity.
Acts with integrity by maintaining high standards of ethics and compliance, supporting Walmart’s culture, and holding oneself and others accountable.
Delivers results with a customer-first approach, makes data-driven decisions, and balances short- and long-term priorities.

2 years of general management experience including financial accountability.
2 years of supervising 20 or more associates, including performance management, mentoring, hiring, and firing.
For facilities selling firearms, successful completion of a firearms-specific Criminal Background Check (CBC) and Firearms Authorized Training is required.
For facilities selling only ammunition, a current state-issued Certificate of Eligibility may be required.
Must complete all job-required trainings and assessments, including Academy and Open Door trainings.
Bachelor of Science in Business Management and Leadership through Live Better U and Bellevue University.
Experience managing a large team (50+ associates), including performance management, mentoring, and employment decisions.
Experience managing a fresh or dry grocery area is preferred.
