Job description

Position Summary

As a Data Engineer III on Walmart's User and Entity Behavior Analytics (UEBA) team, you will design and build scalable data pipelines that transform disparate data sources into actionable detections. You will develop data flows, risk‑scoring models, and behavioral detections that strengthen DLP, insider threat, and threat actor detection capabilities. Partnering closely with data scientists, detection engineers, analysts, and other InfoSec teams, you will deliver trusted, governed data assets that enable automation, AI‑driven analytics, and high‑fidelity detections, helping protect Walmart's customers, associates, and global technology environment.

About the team

The UEBA team consists of Data Scientists, Database Administrators, and Engineers focused on reducing attack risks through proactive threat detection. The team addresses challenges such as threat actors, Data Loss Prevention, and insider threats by utilizing advanced analytics and machine learning. Collaboration with various Information Security teams is key to their approach. This team leverages expertise in cyber security, incident response, and behavioral analytics to safeguard data and enhance organizational security posture effectively.

What you'll do

Transform enterprise data into actionable detections that protect millions of customers, associates, and business operations worldwide. Design, build, and optimize scalable data pipelines that ingest, enrich, and transform data from various security and enterprise sources into high‑fidelity detections for threat actors, insider risk, and DLP. Work closely with data scientists, detection engineers, analysts, and cybersecurity partners to engineer reliable, production‑grade data assets that enable faster detection, higher confidence alerting, and more effective response to emerging threats.

What you'll bring

Experience designing and building scalable data pipelines that ingest, transform, and deliver trusted data for analytics, automation, or machine learning. Strong proficiency in SQL and relational databases, with experience developing efficient data models, documenting data lineage, and optimizing large‑scale datasets. Familiarity with ETL frameworks, workflow orchestration, and cloud or big‑data platforms. Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems, identify root causes, and communicate solutions effectively across technical and business teams. A self‑starter with a passion for automation, innovation, and leveraging data to build high‑impact cybersecurity capabilities that protect customers and the business.

Benefits

At Walmart, we offer competitive pay and performance‑based bonus awards. Health benefits include medical, vision and dental coverage. Financial benefits include 401(k), stock purchase and company‑paid life insurance.
