Job description

Position Summary

Leads and develops teams effectively by teaching, training, and actively listening to associates, touring stores, and providing feedback. Communicates and collaborates with all levels of associates regarding store operations, utilizing technology, business initiatives, merchandising, and company direction. Introduces and leads company change efforts, providing clear expectations and guidance to implement business solutions and communicate business objectives to teams effectively. Models and demonstrates exceptional customer service standards to store associates by following and demonstrating the One Best Way (OBW) service model. Manages and supports customer service initiatives, including store community outreach programs, ensuring customer needs, complaints, and issues are successfully resolved. Develops and implements action plans to correct deficiencies and provides process improvement leadership to ensure a high-quality customer experience.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Drive financial performance and sales of the designated store area by reviewing and evaluating PL (Profit & Loss) statements, managing budgets, forecasting, and controlling expenses. Monitor and ensure effective merchandise presentation, seasonal transitions, inventory flow, and operational processes. Develop and implement action plans to mitigate shrink and achieve sales and profit goals.
  2. Provide supervision and development opportunities for hourly associates by hiring, training, mentoring, and assigning duties. Set clear expectations, provide recognition, and promote a culture of belonging. Recruit and develop qualified associates to meet staffing needs and support company growth.
  3. Coordinate and oversee job-related activities by developing relationships with key stakeholders, supporting plans and initiatives, and building accountability. Measure progress, identify improvement opportunities, and promote continuous learning.
  4. Ensure compliance with company policies and support company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity. Implement related action plans, support the Open Door Policy, and guide team members on applying these principles in business practices.
  5. Build high-performing teams by embracing diversity, creating an inclusive environment, and fostering a culture of belonging where associates feel supported and connected. Attract, retain, empower, and recognize talent.
  6. Act with integrity by maintaining high standards of ethics, supporting Walmart's culture, and holding oneself and others accountable. Support Walmart's goal of becoming a regenerative company through positive community impact, waste elimination, and local engagement.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications include 2 years of college; or 1 year of retail and 1 year of supervisory experience; or 2 years of general work experience with 1 year of supervisory experience. For firearms-related roles, successful completion of background checks and training is required. Associates must attend and pass all required training and assessments.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and Leadership or a Certificate of Completion in People and Business Leadership through Live Better U and Bellevue University. Experience supervising five or more direct reports, including performance management, mentoring, hiring, and firing, is also preferred.
