A leading company in retail is seeking a strong leader to manage and develop teams at their Grand Rapids location. The position emphasizes customer service excellence, staff mentoring, and driving financial performance through effective operational strategies. Leads and develops teams effectively by teaching, training, and actively listening to associates, touring stores, and providing feedback. Communicates and collaborates with all levels of associates regarding store operations, utilizing technology, business initiatives, merchandising, and company direction. Introduces and leads company change efforts, providing clear expectations and guidance to implement business solutions and communicate business objectives effectively.
Models and demonstrates exceptional customer service standards to store associates by following and demonstrating the One Best Way (OBW) service model. Manages and supports customer service initiatives, including store community outreach programs, ensuring customer needs, complaints, and issues are resolved successfully. Develops and implements action plans to correct deficiencies and provides process improvement leadership to ensure a high-quality customer experience.
Drives the financial performance and sales of the designated store area by reviewing and evaluating P&L statements, managing budgets, forecasting, and controlling expenses. Monitors and ensures effective merchandise presentation, seasonal transitions, inventory flow, and operational processes. Develops and implements action plans to mitigate shrink and achieve sales and profit goals.
Provides supervision and development opportunities for hourly associates through hiring, training, mentoring, and assigning duties. Sets clear expectations, provides recognition, and promotes a sense of belonging in the workplace. Recruits and develops qualified associates to meet staffing needs and support company growth.
Coordinates and oversees job-related activities by developing relationships with key stakeholders, supporting plans and initiatives, and measuring progress. Identifies improvement opportunities and demonstrates adaptability and continuous learning.
Ensures compliance with company policies and standards of ethics and integrity by implementing related action plans and supporting the Open Door Policy. Creates a workplace of belonging, embracing differences and fostering a culture where associates feel supported and connected.

The hourly wage range for this position is $31.25-$38.46, with additional compensation such as performance bonuses and potential regional pay zones, based on location.
2 years of college; OR 1 year of retail experience and 1 year of supervisory experience; OR 2 years of general work experience and 1 year of supervisory experience. For facilities selling firearms, successful completion of a firearms-specific Criminal Background Check (CBC) and Firearms Authorized Training is required. For facilities selling only ammunition, a current state-issued Certificate of Eligibility may be required. Associates must attend and complete all required training and assessments, such as Academy and Open Door trainings.
Bachelor of Science in Business Management and Leadership through Live Better U and Bellevue University. Certificate of Completion in People and Business Leadership through Live Better U and Bellevue University. Experience supervising 5 or more direct reports, including performance management, mentoring, hiring, and firing.
