Job summary

The Fountain Group is seeking a Bench Scientist in Bothell, WA to support molecular biology experiments, DNA/RNA extraction, RT-PCR, and high-throughput workflows. The role requires a Bachelor’s degree or higher and about 5+ years of bench experience in a GLP/BSL-2 environment.

Experience with automated liquid handling (Hamilton) and data automation (Python/SQL/Snowflake) is highly desirable. This is a 1-year engagement with competitive hourly pay.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Biology, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related scientific discipline.
  • Approximately 5+ years of hands-on molecular biology or bench laboratory experience.
  • Experience with automated liquid handling platforms, ideally Hamilton.
  • Strong experience with DNA/RNA extraction, RT-PCR, sample preparation, and QC.
  • Experience working in high-throughput wet-lab environments and BSL-2 settings.
  • NGS sample preparation and genomic/transcriptomic workflows highly desired.
  • Cell culture, CHO cells, and recombinant protein expression are a plus.
  • Experience with Python, SQL/Snowflake, or scientific data/workflow automation is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Execute laboratory experiments using established and adapted scientific protocols
  • Perform DNA/RNA extraction, RT-PCR, sample preparation, and QC testing
  • Operate and troubleshoot automated liquid handling and high-throughput laboratory platforms
  • Prepare and analyze large volumes of samples while maintaining accuracy and consistency
  • Document experimental procedures, results, and observations in accordance with GLP and internal standards
  • Troubleshoot laboratory workflows and collaborate with scientists to interpret data and resolve issues
  • Support method optimization and development of automated wet-lab workflows

Job Details:
  • Position: Bench Scientist
  • Location: Bothell, WA
  • Pay: $50–55/hr
  • Duration: 1 year

About the Role: This position will support scientific research and product development through hands-on laboratory experimentation, analytical testing, and high-throughput wet-lab workflows. The ideal candidate will have strong molecular biology experience and be comfortable working with automated liquid handling platforms, troubleshooting workflows, and interpreting experimental data.
