Job summary

TikTok USDS Joint Venture, based in Washington, DC, seeks a Trend Detection Specialist for the USDS Policy Implementation team. You will identify emerging abuse patterns, build scalable detection using LLMs, and support policy updates with data-driven insights.

This role emphasizes protecting users while preserving freedom of expression. Ideal candidates have 3+ years in Trust & Safety or related fields, experience with AI/ML tools, and a track record of working with product teams to deploy

Qualifications

• 3 years in Trust & Safety, Intelligence, or Content Policy focused on high-harm issues.
• Proven ability to use LLMs or AI/ML tools for data classification and trend detection.
• Experience collaborating with Product/Engineering to build or improve automated detection systems.
• Analytical mindset with ability to connect disparate data points into narratives.

Responsibilities

• Lead comprehensive risk assessments and spearhead proactive trend detection initiatives for high-risk, USDS-led, or supported events.
• Partner with USDS Product teams to co-design and refine automated detection models for the U.S. market.
• Build and deploy automated workflows using LLMs to scale detection.
• Provide high-quality signal and training data to Product to keep systems ahead of adversarial pivots.
• Support active US escalations by identifying secondary trends and evolving narratives.
• Generate data-driven intelligence aligned with quarterly priorities and RFIs.
• Identify emerging slang and cultural shifts to predict bypasses of safety filters.
• Map new patterns in high-harm violations to broaden safety coverage in the US.
• Pull and synthesize data to validate emerging risks for feature/policy updates.
• Explain detection models and gaps as a technical SME for Policy.
