Job summary

Hanami International in the United States is seeking a Director to lead planning, structuring and US tax compliance for a portfolio of investment funds, including hedge funds, mutual funds and private equity funds. You will own the partnership tax work and build lasting client relationships while guiding growth strategy with the partners.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of recent US tax experience in professional services.
• Strong financial services client experience in funds, private equity, asset management or insurance.
• Partnership tax knowledge and a solid grasp of alternative investment strategies and vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Lead US tax compliance and consulting for investment partnerships, including hedge funds, mutual funds and private equity funds.
• Advise on fund and management company structures to keep them tax-efficient.
• Own the partnership tax work, including K-1s and K-3s for US and non-US funds.
• Build long-term client relationships and present complex positions in plain terms.
• Lead and develop the team, and help price and negotiate engagements.
• Move the practice further into automation, data analytics and visualisation tools.

You’ll lead planning, structuring and compliance across a portfolio of fund clients. You’ll also sit with the partners on where the practice grows next, and build the team that gets it there.
